The connection between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel was not created in our lifetime, it has endured for thousands of years through exile, persecution, and every attempt to erase it.

Like roots buried deep beneath the surface, some bonds cannot be broken.

Before then Jews were Palestinians and non Jews were Muslim Arabs. Jordan controlled Judea & Samaria until 1967 but did not create a State of Palestine. Egypt controlled Gaza but did not create a State of Palestine. Only when they attacked Israel & lost did they cry we are Palestine refugees. 😭

Are the Palestinians an ancient people or a modern creation?

Dr. Harold Rudd, a fellow at the Jerusalem Center for Foreign and Security Affairs, writes:

"Before 1948, the date the Jewish state was established, almost the only people who referred to themselves as Palestinians were the Jews who lived there. The others in the region, mainly Muslim Arabs, defined themselves as Muslims."

He says that modern Palestinian identity was largely invented in 1964, when the Palestine Liberation Organization was founded.

“Whether the people of Gaza and the West Bank have historical ties to pre-1948 Palestine under the British Mandate is a matter of ongoing debate, shaped by historical migration patterns, trade routes and geopolitical shifts,” he explains, adding:

“But in any case, they are not one people, but a jumble of peoples with no prior ties to pre-1948 Palestine, who have settled there over the past two centuries.”
