We are a little over ten weeks away from this year's Men's Retreat. This retreat is open to men from all across the MOV high school age and up. We would love for you to attend and here is the WHY...

Knowing about and knowing are two completely different things.

One can give us a false sense of security; the other secures our eternity.

One makes us selfish as we protect something we think sets us apart; the other transforms us into sowers of compassion.

We too often anchor our hope in knowing about Jesus. We can recount stories of His coming, birth, life, death, and triumphant resurrection, but have we experienced a transformation that only comes from knowing the Savior?

This year’s men’s weekend is all about the Greek word ginosko, meaning "knowing". Not merely a factual knowing, but a relational, intimate knowing the Son of God. There are ample groundings for this theme in Scripture and we will use many of them for the weekend, but the idea came from a recent sermon that took us to Philippians 3:7-8. Paul desired to know Christ and this knowing was not knowing about, but knowing the Savior in such a way that empowered Paul serve, lead, and love in powerful ways!

Do we want this weekend to be amazing? YES and it will be! But, we also believe that this weekend will equip you with some amazing, lasting tools to maintain a deeper, more intimate relationship with your Savior, Jesus.

🙏 How You Can Pray for In the Midst Honduras

As the Lord continues to grow the ministry of ITM, we are incredibly grateful—but with growth also comes new needs, new responsibilities, and the need for more hands to help carry the work.

Would you pray with us specifically for these things?

1.⁠ ⁠A Honduran administrator — We are praying for the right person who understands the ins and outs of the Honduran government and can help us navigate paperwork, requirements, and the day-to-day administrative operations of the ministry, and loves the Lord above all else.
2.⁠ ⁠Funding for the pastoral/team house in San Jerónimo — Construction is underway, and we are trusting the Lord to provide the funds needed to complete this space. It will provide a home for the pastor and his family as well as a place to house ministry teams serving in the area.
3.⁠ ⁠Seasoned Honduran/Spanish-speaking pastors — As ITM continues to grow and reach new areas, we are praying for experienced, faithful Spanish-speaking pastors who share our heart for the Gospel and will come alongside us in the work.
4.⁠ ⁠Funding for the medical clinic and housing on our new property — We have big dreams for how this new land can be used to serve our community, including a medical clinic and additional housing. We are praying for the Lord’s provision as those plans move forward.
5.⁠ ⁠Full-time ministry workers — The work has grown beyond what our current team can carry alone. We are praying for the right people who share the vision of ITM, have a heart to serve, and can step into full-time roles as the ministry continues to expand.

There is so much happening, and we don’t take for granted that God has allowed us to be a small part of it. More than anything, we want to grow well—not simply doing more, but faithfully stewarding every opportunity He places before us.

Thank you for praying alongside us. Your prayers are every bit as much a part of this ministry as the work happening here on the ground. ❤️🇭🇳

Mark you calendars for the 2026 FBCW (and surrounding communities) Men's Retreat.

Guys, let’s face it. We love facts. We tend to live in black-and-white areas. If it is a job to be completed, give me the facts, let’s make a plan, let’s get it done. If it is a team to root for, let’s look at the back of the sports card and let’s manage. If it is a vacation to plan, look at the budget, pull out a map, and let’s create. If it is a retirement to look forward to, let’s set the amount needed and the date I want to walk away, and let’s get it done. Give us the facts and let's go!

Unfortunately, we pull this approach over into our faith as well. Give me a good Bible study. Give me a good sermon. Let me listen to a good podcast. All of this, far too often, allows us to accumulate more facts about this guy named Jesus. We know about Him, His birth, His life, His miracles, His friends, His death, and His resurrection. Ask us about Jesus, and we can give you the facts.

BUT…brothers, do you KNOW Jesus or merely know ABOUT Him? Has the knowledge you have stored in your cranium made the approximately eighteen-mile journey to your heart? Merely knowing ABOUT Jesus puts us in the company of our enemy’s demons. Accumulating facts ABOUT Jesus does not heal our broken relationship with our Father. Only through KNOWING Jesus can we have life in Him.

The Greek word used most often for this intimate, relational knowledge of Jesus the King is γινώσκω. This will be our theme at this year’s Men’s Retreat at Camp Cowen. Everything we do will help us move from rote information about Jesus to a more personal relationship with our Redeemer.

This year’s dates are Friday, November 13 through Sunday, November 15. The cost is $70/person, which includes all lodging, supplies, and meals while you are on site.

The weekend is open to any guy, high school age and up, from any church or community. So invite your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to join you for this weekend. We do not want money to be a hindrance, so if you or someone you know needs a full or partial scholarship, please let us know.

Week #1 of the sabbath experiment begins Sunday at 9:45 AM in Summit at FBCW. This might be just the opportunity your family is looking for in your search to better alignment under God's design.

This summer, FBCW will host a Sunday school workshop to provide our congregation and communities with a practical, gospel-centered antidote to the modern epidemic of burnout and digital distraction. Three of your Elders will facilitate this workshop experience using biblical truths, personal experience, John Mark Comer’s The Sabbath Practice to structure our itinerary.

True Rest: break the cycle of chronic burnout.
Digital Detox: trade screen noise for mental peace.
Practical Tools: learn actionable steps for holy space.
Deep Community: build lasting habits with church family.

During July and August, we will be combining all middle school, high school, and adult Sunday School classes. However, the Formations class will continue to meet in the traditional sanctuary.

We are encouraging all FBCW families and their friends to commit to attending Sunday School together this summer with middle and high school students attending this experience with their parents.

This workshop moves beyond abstract theology into a hands-on, community-supported experience. It will equip families with the life-giving, biblical habits of resting, delighting, and worshiping, ultimately fostering a deeper intimacy with God and a healthier, more sustainable rhythm of discipleship within our church family.

What a fantastic morning celebrating our Savior in one combined service. What an exciting time for our faith family as we officially installed THIRTEEN new Deacons to come alongside existing Deacons and Elders as we strive to make much of Jesus in our lives, homes, schools, workplaces, and communities. May we be even more on fire for the Great Commission given to us by our Savior. So honored to call FBCW our church home! Our God is so GOOD!
