🌿🙏 The Bodhisattva Vow 🙏🌿

The Bodhisattva's path is the path of boundless compassion—the heartfelt aspiration to work for the welfare, happiness, and liberation of all beings.

May we cultivate a heart that wishes:

✨ To be a source of healing for the sick.
✨ To be food and drink for the hungry and thirsty.
✨ To be shelter for the weary.
✨ To be a guide for those who have lost their way.
✨ To be a lamp for those who seek light.
✨ To be a bridge across suffering.
✨ To be a friend to all beings.

As Shantideva so beautifully expressed:

"May I be a guard for those who are protectorless, a guide for those who journey on the road. For those who wish to cross the water, may I be a boat, a raft, a bridge."

May the awakened heart of compassion arise within us. May our thoughts, words, and actions become a blessing to the world.

May all beings be free from suffering.
May all beings be peaceful.
May all beings awaken to wisdom and compassion.

Buddhist Era 2570

Namo Buddhaya. 🙏

Today, Buddhists around the world joyfully celebrate Vesak, commemorating the three most sacred events in the life of the Blessed Buddha — His Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinibbāna.

More than 2,600 years ago, the Buddha illuminated the world with the timeless path of wisdom, compassion, mindfulness, and inner peace. His teachings continue to guide countless beings toward freedom from suffering and the cultivation of a peaceful heart.

On this blessed day, let us reflect upon the Buddha's noble qualities and renew our commitment to living with kindness, generosity, patience, and compassion toward all beings.

May we cultivate loving-kindness instead of hatred, understanding instead of division, and wisdom instead of ignorance.

As we light lamps and offer flowers, may we also awaken the light of wisdom within our own hearts.

🌸 May all beings be free from suffering.
🌸 May all beings be healthy and safe.
🌸 May all beings be peaceful and happy.
🌸 May all beings progress on the path to liberation.

Wishing everyone a joyful, peaceful, and blessed Vesak Day.

Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! 🙏🪷✨

Poverty and hunger silently break millions of lives every day.
While many of us sleep in warmth and comfort, countless children stand in long lines under the rain — cold, hungry, trembling, and simply hoping for a meal.

Some children do not dream of toys, luxury, or success.
They only dream of food, safety, warmth, and kindness. 💔

Not everyone is blessed with the life we have.
So before complaining about small inconveniences, let us pause and remember those who are suffering in silence.

Be compassionate.
Be generous.
Be kind to those who have less.
Even the smallest act of kindness can become hope for someone struggling to survive. 🌧️🍲🕊

The Buddha taught that generosity and compassion are among the greatest virtues. When we help relieve the suffering of others, we also nourish our own hearts with humanity and love.

May no child go hungry.
May no being suffer from cold, fear, or abandonment.
May we learn to care for one another with open hearts. 🙏

The Buddha taught that when humanity declines in morality, compassion, and wisdom, the world experiences great suffering. In Buddhist teachings, there are three major periods of destruction and hardship known as the Three Antara-Kalpas:

1️⃣ Śastra Antaḥkalpa — The Age of Weapons
A time when hatred, anger, violence, and conflict dominate society. Human beings lose compassion and begin harming one another through war, cruelty, and division.

2️⃣ Durbhikṣa Antaḥkalpa — The Age of Famine
A time of hunger, poverty, food scarcity, and suffering caused by greed, selfishness, and imbalance in society and nature.

3️⃣ Roga Antaḥkalpa — The Age of Disease
A period marked by widespread sickness, epidemics, fear, and physical suffering affecting countless beings.

These teachings are not meant to create fear, but to awaken wisdom and responsibility within humanity. The Buddha explained that collective suffering arises when greed, hatred, and delusion grow stronger in the world.

Today, we can clearly see many of these conditions appearing around us — conflict, environmental destruction, loneliness, division, mental suffering, disease, and uncertainty. More than ever, the world needs compassion, mindfulness, wisdom, loving-kindness, and inner peace.

The solution taught by the Buddha is timeless:
🌿 Practice generosity
🌿 Live ethically
🌿 Cultivate mindfulness
🌿 Develop compassion
🌿 Train the mind through meditation
🌿 Let go of hatred and greed

True peace in the world begins with peace within ourselves.

As the Buddha taught:
“Hatred is never overcome by hatred. Hatred is overcome only by love. This is an eternal law.”

May we all work together to create a world rooted in kindness, wisdom, harmony, and compassion for all beings. 🪷🙏

On this Memorial Day, we pause with gratitude and respect to remember all the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to this country. 🇺🇸🙏

May we honor their courage not only with words, but by living with kindness, compassion, peace, and understanding toward one another.

At Green Mountain Monk, we offer loving-kindness and blessings to all fallen heroes, their families, and all beings everywhere.

“May all beings be free from suffering.
May all beings live in peace.” 🪷

Wishing everyone a peaceful and meaningful Memorial Day.
