Reconstructing Judaism is a progressive, egalitarian, inclusive movement that makes Judaism relevant to contemporary life while honoring Jewish tradition. Shir Hadash Synagogue is a creative Reconstructionist congregation led by Rabbi Eitan Weiner-Kaplow that has served the Jewish community in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago since 1995. We welcome singles, couples, and all family conste

llations, including Interfaith and LGBT families. As reflected by our motto—Community, Creativity, and Caring—we celebrate our Jewish faith through creative worship, social action, music, arts, dance, and drama. We offer a wonderful one day a week religious school that meets on Sundays, dynamic bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah services, teen program, adult programming, and much more.

Last Sunday morning, a group of Shir Hadashniks met bright and early at The Preserve in Highland Park for a guided birdwatching walk with our resident ornithologists, Ed and Rebecca. Over the course of the morning, they spotted 41 different species of birds! Thanks to Abby for capturing the excitement!
