🏀 WINNING EDGE WEDNESDAY
Here are two lessons I constantly share with our players:

1️⃣ CRITICISM IS A PRIVILEGE.
If people are criticizing you, chances are you’re putting yourself out there, taking risks and chasing something meaningful.

When I became head coach at Bergen Catholic, I heard:
“He’ll never get the players needed to win.”

Now I hear:
“He gets all the good players.”

Same coach. Same program. Different criticism.

The lesson?
KEEP GOING.

You can’t control what people say. You CAN control your effort, attitude, habits and commitment.

2️⃣ COMPLIMENTS ARE LIKE PERFUME.
They smell good — but you wouldn’t want to drink them.

Enjoy the praise. Say thank you. Then get back to work.

Don’t let criticism break you, and don’t let compliments make you.

At Bergen Catholic and Hoop Dreamz, we believe in:
STANDARDS OVER SCOREBOARDS.
PROCESS OVER OUTCOME.
DAY 1 ENERGY. EVERY DAY.

Stay humble in victory. Stay resilient through adversity. Control what you can control.

Don’t let the noise around you become louder than the vision inside you.

Happy Winning Edge Wednesday!
The best way to get better at playing basketball?
PLAY BASKETBALL.

At Hoop Dreamz, we use competitive, game-like environments that force players to THINK, REACT and ADAPT—not just memorize drills.

Why?
🏀 They learn to make decisions under pressure.
🔥 They develop energy, toughness and a high motor.
🙌 They compete, make mistakes, solve problems and have FUN.

We call it developing JUNGLE TIGERS.
A Zoo Tiger lives in a controlled, predictable environment.
A Jungle Tiger has to think, adapt, compete and figure things out.

Basketball—and life—are played in the wild.

We want players who can:
👉Make decisions
👉Solve problems
👉Communicate and lead
👉Compete with confidence
👉Adapt when adversity hits

That’s not just basketball development.
THAT’S LIFE DEVELOPMENT.

🏀 34 DAYS UNTIL HIGH SCHOOL TRYOUTS!
Players everywhere are putting in the work—but over these next 34 days, change the question you’re asking.

❌ “How can I make the team?”
✅ “How can I ADD VALUE to the team?”

Focus on what you can control and find your BIG 3:

2 SUPERPOWERS
What are the two things you already do really well? Shooting? Defense? Energy? Rebounding? Decision-making?

1 KRYPTONITE
What’s holding you back? Fear of mistakes? Poor sleep? Distractions? Negative self-talk?

2 SUPERPOWERS – 1 KRYPTONITE = YOUR BIG 3.

You don’t need to improve 10 things before tryouts.

Double down on your strengths. Eliminate what’s getting in the way. Become exceptional at bringing value to your team.

A LITTLE DONE A LOT IS BETTER THAN A LOT DONE A LITTLE.

Over the next 34 days, don’t just prepare to make the team.
🔥 PREPARE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

A bad game. A missed shot. A tough loss.

None of them define who you are. But how you respond can shape who you become.

🚫 Instead of asking, “What does this loss say about me?”
✅ ask: “What can it teach me—and how will I use it to get better?”

Turn the lesson into better preparation, stronger focus and daily habits you can commit to and track.

That’s what we build through our Smart Player Mentorship Program and PG3 Modern Player Development Clinic Series: better players and better people, with standards that carry into basketball and life.

Create your standards. Commit to them. Track them. Live them.
Don’t waste the loss. Use it! 🏀
