Anxious? “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” (Psalm 56:3)�Overwhelmed? “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2)�Discouraged? “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? hope thou in God.” (Psalm 42:5)�Fallen? “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down.” (Psalm 37:24)�Head down? “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.” (Psalm 3:3)
Every human emotion is already in the Psalms, and every one of them is lifted up.
The Psalms don’t stop with us. They lead us to the Messiah. They were written about Him a thousand years early: His garments parted, not one bone broken, His spirit committed into the Father’s hands. When you learn the Psalms, you do more than lift yourself. You lift up Christ.
