Annual conference members are expected to embody the spirit of holy conferencing — engaging one another as siblings in Christ, listening deeply, and discerning where God may be leading the church.

Lay membership for the annual conference is determined based on The United Methodist Church Book of Discipline 2020/2024, paragraph 33, and the Rules of Order that govern our conference processes.
By the beginning of September every year, information is shared about the number of lay members for the following year’s annual conference session. The data used includes appointments as of July 1st and statistical data. The lay membership information is utilized by the districts’ nomination teams and the charge conferences to nominate and elect professing lay members to attend and participate in the annual conference.
