Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ

Central Christian Church Disciples of Christ As God has welcomed us, we welcome you. We especially welcome and support those who have felt excluded from the spiritual community. Romans 15:7

"Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." - Romans 15:7
With all our differences - in age, ability and physical condition, in race, cultural background and economic status, in sexual orientation, gender identity and family structure - God has received each one with loving kindness, patience and joy. All that we are together and all that we hope to be

is made more perfect as the richness of varied lives meets the mystery of God's unifying Spirit and we become the Body of Christ.

Good Morning!

On Pentecost, the Spirit did not stay in one place. It moved outward — across languages, cultures, and every barrier people believed separated them. In that moment, a new kind of community was born, shaped by courage, generosity, and love. That same Spirit is still moving today. Give to this year's Pentecost Offering, which is equally divided between the region in which it is collected and New Church Ministry, when it is collected in most congregations on May 17 and 24.

What does it mean to be a Disciple? This is the question that a group of Young Adult Disciples wrestled with for several weeks recently as a part of the Young Adult Book Club hosted through the office of the General Minister and President. Our conversation partner was Terri Hord-Owen’s book Staying at the Table: Being the Church We Say We Are. The book asks hard questions about who we are called to be as Disciples of Christ and challenges us to embody who we claim to be. The Young adults who gathered to craft this group found themselves discussing the church's present needs while also envisioning its future. What came through in their insights was that they see the church as a potent vessel for good in the world.

In an effort to lift up their voice, below is a Spotify playlist created by the group in an effort to use music to communicate the “Disciples Vibes” that unite us all in faithful community. May it inspire us to lift all voices and sing of the better future these young adults envision. May it encourage us to ask ourselves, what does it mean to be a disciple?

Dear Church,
Grace and peace to you in this season of uncertainty.

In recent days, we have watched with deep concern as the conflict involving Iran has escalated. While headlines often focus on political and military developments, I write to you today from the perspective of Week of Compassion – and from the voices of our partners across the region – about what this means for the people we accompany.
