You do a good deed...

But before you've even enjoyed it, another thought appears:

Should I take a photo? What should I write? Will people know I did this?

Then you find yourself returning to the post, checking the likes and comments, until people's approval matters more than Allah's acceptance.

The Prophet ﷺ mentioned one of the seven whom Allah will shade on the Day when there is no shade but His:

"A person who gives charity so secretly that their left hand does not know what their right hand has given."

Such complete sincerity...

As if the giver wanted no witness between themselves and Allah.

Not every good deed shared publicly is done for show. Sometimes it inspires others to do good.

Revive a Sunnah. Break a Habit.

A provoking comment appears on your screen...

You read it once, then again. Soon, silence starts to feel like weakness.

You type a harsh reply... delete it... then rewrite it even harsher, wanting the other person to know you can hurt them just as they hurt you.

But the Prophet ﷺ faced far more than hurtful words on a screen.

A Bedouin once grabbed his cloak so forcefully that it left a mark on his neck. Then he spoke to him harshly and demanded money.

The Prophet ﷺ could have become angry. He could have rebuked him or returned his harshness with the same.

Instead, he ﷺ turned to him, smiled, and ordered that he be given something.

That wasn't weakness.

It was strength—the strength to master his response before anger could master him.

That is why the Prophet ﷺ said:

"The strong person is not the one who overcomes others in wrestling. Rather, the strong person is the one who controls himself when angry."

Real strength is not the ability to reply.

Anyone can return hurt with hurt.

Real strength is pausing for a moment and asking yourself:

"Does this reply truly represent me... or is my anger writing it?"

Revive a Sunnah. Break a Habit.

You tell yourself, "Just one more video before I sleep..."

But when it ends, another one appears. Then there's a message you haven't replied to, a headline that leads to another search... and before you know it, minutes have passed while you're still holding your phone.

Even after you lock the screen, what you've filled your heart with doesn't disappear.

You go to bed carrying images, news, comparisons, and endless thoughts. Your body falls asleep, but your mind remains awake.

The Prophet ﷺ ended his day differently.

'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that whenever he ﷺ went to bed, he would cup his hands, gently blow into them, recite Surah Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas), then wipe them over his body three times. He would also turn to Allah in supplication before sleeping.

We often end our day with what fills the heart with noise...

He ﷺ ended his day with what protected it and brought it peace.

The question isn't:

When will you put your phone down?

The question is:

What do you want the final moments of your day to be filled with?

Tonight... will the last thing you see be another video, or the last words on your tongue be the remembrance of Allah?
