One day… and the reward of a year.

From Allah’s mercy upon us is that He placed in our short lifespans days of immense virtue and impact.

Among these days is the day of Ashura.

The Prophet ﷺ said about fasting it:
“I hope that Allah will expiate the sins of the previous year.”

One day of fasting,
with sincere intention,
and hope in Allah’s mercy,
may become a means of forgiveness for an entire past year.

And it is more complete to fast the ninth day along with it, following the intention of the Prophet ﷺ when he said:
“If I live until next year, I will fast the ninth.”

So if you are able, fast the ninth and the tenth.
And if you miss the ninth, do not leave the tenth.
