Jerusalem Baptist Church (Georgetown, District of Columbia) We've come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord... Rev. Samuel Washington was Called to serve as the first Pastor. During the pastorate of Rev. George H. R.

The Jerusalem Baptist Church (Georgetown, District of Columbia), traces its origins to 1870, when a group of baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ banded together to form what was then-called 7th Baptist Church. During the church's nascent years, The Reverends Sandy Alexander, Noah Dillard, Howard also served as Pastor. Harris, 7th Baptist Church erected its first building on the corner of 26th and P Streets, NW. Subsequently, the name of the church was changed to Jerusalem Baptist Church. In 1929, Rev. Augustus Lewis was Called to serve as Pastor of Jerusalem. The church thrived under his 40-year administration. Clinton Washington, who was serving as Rev. Lewis' assistant at the time, was Called to Pastor Jerusalem in 1969. Dr. Washington provided visionary leadership to the flock at Jerusalem for some 40 years, retiring in January 2008. He served was serving as Pastor Emeritus at the time of his demise in December 2010. In August 2008, Dr. Reginald Green agreed to serve Jerusalem as Interim Pastor. He served with distinction through May 2012, when Rev. Rodney A. Teal answered the Pastoral Call. Under Rev. Teal's dynamic leadership, Jerusalem is experiencing renewal, restoration, and revival.

Come with your Bible, an open heart, and be ready to wrestle with what it means that the Lord is always shepherding you.

Pastor Teal

P.S. We will go back and finish Chapter 1 before moving to Chapter 2.
