Collins Williams, a licensed preacher donated a small piece of land at 29th and O Streets to be used for a church. Welcome to the First Baptist Church, Georgetown. We are a historic African-American church located in the Georgetown area of the nation's capital, Washington, DC. We are a small, friendly, family church whose mission is to "worship Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to promote Christian unity in our community and world."

This month, First Baptist Church Georgetown honors the rich legacy, faith, resilience, and contributions of Black history—past, present, and future. We give thanks for the trailblazers who paved the way, the leaders who continue the work, and the generations rising with purpose and promise.

As a church family, we celebrate our history, reflect on our journey, and recommit ourselves to faith, justice, service, and love for all God’s people. 🖤📖🙏🏾
