Announcements for September 13

We welcome you to our celebration of the Holy Eucharist. All visitors are very welcome! This weekend we celebrate the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Happy National Grandparents Day! A blessing of our grandparents will be prayed at Mass this weekend.

Religious Education for Youth, Kindergarten through 10th grade, begins this Sunday, September 13. Classes will meet on Sundays from 8:30 to 9:45.

On the second weekend of each month, you may bring non-perishable items and place them in the blue wagon in front of the church before Mass. United Christian Care Center of Vidor is very appreciative of Our Lady of Lourdes Church’s generosity.

OCIA continues this Tuesday, September 15, at 5:30, in St Augustine Hall.

Youth Ministry meets Wednesdays, beginning with the 5:30 Mass.

The Blessing of the Pets will be prayed on the grounds next to the church on Sunday, October 4, from 4 to 4:30.

The parish Fall Family Social will be held after Mass on Sunday, October 11. Please see the bulletin for more information.

Our parish family is saddened to learn of the death of Woodrow "Woody" Dugas.

May God grant eternal rest to his soul and consolation to his family and friends.

Announcements for September 6

We welcome you to our celebration of the Holy Eucharist. All visitors are very welcome! This weekend we celebrate the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.

The list of food items from which to choose to bring to the October 11 Parish Fall Family Social can be picked up from the tables in the vestibule. The church will provide chili and sides, ham, water and tea and a cake. Please bring the food to Padre Blanco Hall before going to Mass that morning.

There is a second collection this weekend for the Catholic University of America, which educates and forms many future priests and lay leaders.

The parish office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Religious Education for Youth, Kindergarten through 10th grade, will begin on Sunday, September 13. Classes will meet on Sundays from 8:30 to 9:45.

OCIA begins this Tuesday, September 8, at 5:30, in St Augustine Hall.

Registration for Parish Catechetical Formation for Children continues this Sunday, August 30, after Mass in St Augustine Hall (the classroom building). Classes begin September 13 at 8:30. Fees: $15 for one child, $25 for two children, $30 for three or more children

A class will be starting on September 8 at 5:30 pm for those wanting to learn more about the Catholic faith. The class is designed for the non-baptized interested in the Order of Christan Initiation of Adults (OCIA), as well as for Christians baptized in another religion and also for baptized Catholics who never received Confirmation and/or First Communion. The class will meet on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:15. Please call or email the office to sign up.

Blessing of the Pets
The Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Patron of Animals, is celebrated October 4. This year’s feast is especially significant, as it marks the 800th anniversary of the transitus of Francis from earth to heaven. You can bring your pets to be blessed outside the church on Sunday, October 4, from 4 to 4:30 pm.
