Congratulations Deacon Eddie! Very very deserved honor

✈️💙 Dcn. Eddie Huse ’77 was recognized as St. Joseph High School’s Distinguished Alumni at the Diocese of Victoria’s FIRST Class Awards Ceremony this evening. The award was presented by STJ President John Gilley ‘03 and Bishop Brendan Cahill.

Dcn. Huse is a product of Catholic education, having been given the privilege of attending Our Lady of Victory Catholic School from first through eighth grade, and then graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1977. He has said that “for many years I stumbled through my faith journey. Through the grace of our Lord I first heard the call to the diaconate at an ACTS Retreat in 2003.” That call became clearer as time went by and he entered the formation process for the permanent diaconate in January 2010. His wife, Janet, has been a foundation of love and support to him for years, especially throughout his discernment. After many years of prayer and study, Dcn. Huse was ordained on July 23, 2016. Since 2016, he has been assigned to Holy Family Catholic Church. His ministry goes beyond his duties at Holy Family. Dcn. Huse regularly volunteers at Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry, Promise Pointe and Bethlehem Maternity Home. He is a frequent visitor to our local Catholic schools, assisting with Mass and speaking to students. He also helps with different retreats, including the one that impacted him so deeply, ACTS. Dcn. Huse serves as the Director of Life and Ministry for Permanent Deacons for the Diocese of Victoria, sits on the Deacon Community Board, and regularly attends St. Joseph High School’s Board of Director’s Spiritual Life Subcommittee meetings.
