Our last Sunday in GULU at Bread if Life Methodist church in Bungatira, a short drive from the city. Such sweet worship, with Bishop David preaching.

Visited another sweet church on Saturday afternoon. You can see the storm clouds on the horizon. Rain only hampered our activities one day. Most of the time, the rains, thunder and lightning came at night. It was lovely sleeping weather!

Saturday afternoon we visited a few churches in the region. The children of Te'got Methodist church sang this song of welcome to us when we arrived.

Some of the church ladies gave us gnuts (peanuts) as a gift of appreciation so Sandra made the local peanut butter, called "oh-deed". She roasted the peanuts and some sesame seeds over a charcoal fire and then they were ground into a smooth paste at a local shop. A local favorite!

What a rich time of learning with the men and women leaders of the Methodist churches in the GULU District. We spent one whole day on the book of Colossians and another day on being a Methodist leader.

Training is over and the place is quiet so I am having a cup of tea with my friend Peninah, who facilitated the training with me

One focus for GMPI is pastor training. GMPI provides support for pastors and other Christian leaders to attend the local vernacular Christian school or to get a degree at Mukuno Theological College. I had the privilege to sit down with these students and talk with them about their studies and how they are applying their new knowledge to their leadership contexts. The training is helping them to grow in confidence and wisdom as they share "good news" with their communities.
