Rev. Patrick Fischl serves as the Associate Pastor of Grace Church PCA in Dyer, Indiana. He and his wife, Nichole, have 5 sons (Levi, Simon, Titus, Isaac, and Ezra). He is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary and has served churches in both Fort Wayne, IN, and Houston, TX.

In Judges 3, Israel waits 18 to cry out to the Lord. Eighteen years ago was 2008. The iPhone had just come out. There was no Instagram, no TikTok. And Netflix was still mailing DVDs. And that’s how long it took for Israel to cry out to the Lord. Let us not delay. When we’re anxious, when we don’t know where to turn, when we need help, let us cry out to the Lord, and he will deliver.

God raised up Othniel to bring 40 years of rest. He raised Christ from the dead to bring eternal rest. Othniel’s death meant the cycle continued. Christ’s resurrection means it's coming to an end.
