Our Mother of Sorrows Parish
Tucson, Arizona

Greetings- The 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A reminds us that faith is lived in relationship with others. God does not call us to walk alone. We are asked to care for one another, to guide each other, and to live in love. These readings show how warning, correction, and forgiveness are all part of belonging to God’s people.
The message is clear ~ Love guides correction, warning, and reconciliation. Community is where God’s presence is made real, and where faith grows strong.

Religious Education Registration
Registration for Religious Education is ongoing. Please come into the parish office to register. Classes begin on September 13th in English and September 20th in Spanish. There will be registration after the 9am, 10:45 am, and 12:30 pm Masses this Sunday, September 6th.

Bereavement Group
Our bereavement group is ongoing. They meet the second Thursday of the month in the Parish Activity Center. The next gathering is Thursday, September 10th at 6:30 pm.

Caregiver Group
Our caregiver group meets the second Saturday of the month at 9:15 am in the Parish Activity Center. If you are a caregiver in need of support and guidance, then this is the group for you. No need to register--just show up.

Ladies Guild
Our Ladies Guild is having a 'Welcome Back-Membership Tea. Monday, September 14th at 11:00 am. Please bring your favorite teacup. All Ladies welcome!

Fiesta
Fiesta is coming October 9th and 10th
We are now accepting Silent Auction Items in the Parish office. Drop off for the rummage sale begins September 26th. See the bulletin for more details.

August 30th-Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time



Our Mother of Sorrows Parish
Tucson, Arizona

Greetings- The 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A invites us to look closely at what it means to follow Jesus. The readings show that God’s call is not always easy. Jeremiah speaks of a fire in his heart that he cannot hold back, even when others laugh at him. God’s word is alive and cannot be silenced.
Paul, in his letter to the Romans, calls us to offer our lives to God. He tells us not to copy the ways of the world but to be renewed in mind and spirit. This is how we learn what pleases God. It is a call to live each day with faith and courage.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells His followers to deny themselves and take up their crosses. He warns that gaining the world is nothing if we lose our souls. On the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A, we are asked to choose the way of Christ, even when it is hard. It is the path that leads to true life.

SVDP Pancake Breakfast
Our SVDP council will be sponsoring a pancake breakfast in the hall this Sunday August 30th after the 7am, 9am, and 1045 am Masses. Proceeds will benefit OMOS School.

Religious Education Registration
Registration for Religious Education will take place after the Saturday evening and all the Sunday Masses on the weekends of August 22/23, and 29/30. Registration will take place in the Parish Office.

August 16, 2026-20th Sunday in Ordinary Time



Our Mother of Sorrows Parish
Tucson, Arizona

Greetings- The 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time reminds us that God’s love is for all people. The readings show how faith and mercy cross every border. Isaiah speaks of God’s house as a place of prayer for every nation. Paul tells us that God’s gifts are never withdrawn. The Gospel shows us a woman from outside Israel who trusted in Jesus and was heard.
These passages show the wide embrace of God’s plan. No one is left out if they seek Him with faith. The Canaanite woman’s courage in asking Jesus for help teaches us to keep praying, even when it seems hard. Paul’s message tells us that mercy is for all, and Isaiah’s vision points to a future where every person is welcome to worship.
On the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A, the readings remind us that faith, trust, and hope unite people from every land. God’s love reaches past barriers of culture, history, and nation. His call is the same for everyone: come, believe, and be made whole.

Casa Maria Sandwich Making
Sandwich Making for Casa Maria will take place this Thursday, August 20th at 8:00 am. All are invited to help as they make over 1000 sandwiches for the needy.
Sandwich Making takes place in the PAC Dining Room.

Primavera Men's Shelter Cooking Team

July 26, 2026-17th Sunday in Ordinary Time



Our Mother of Sorrows Parish
Tucson, Arizona

Greetings-

On the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, the readings help us see what is truly valuable. They remind us that wisdom, faith, and God’s kingdom are worth more than anything else we could ever own. These gifts bring life, joy, and strength when we seek them with open hearts.
In the first reading, Solomon shows us what it means to ask for the right thing. Instead of power or wealth, he asks God for wisdom to guide his people well. God is pleased with his request and grants him understanding greater than anyone before or after.
The Gospel continues this theme by showing that the kingdom of heaven is like hidden treasure or a pearl worth everything. Jesus tells us that when we see its worth, nothing else compares. On this Sunday in we are reminded to seek what lasts forever, not what fades away.

July 19, 2026-16th Sunday in Ordinary Time



Our Mother of Sorrows Parish

Greetings- On the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A, the focus is on the Kingdom of God—a realm characterized by justice, kindness, and the power of faith. The First Reading reminds us of God’s desire for justice and His guidance in living with kindness. In the Second Reading, we find solace in the Holy Spirit’s support, aiding us in our moments of weakness. The Gospel parables further illuminate the Kingdom of God, where Jesus illustrates the coexistence of good and evil, the growth from humble beginnings, and the transformative influence of faith.
