Gang,
All of us know the difficulty of knowing some of the commandments of Christ and struggling to obey them. This Sunday I will speak on the New Way of Obedience which contrasts with The Old Way, that has never worked.
The problem is... Often we fight sin the old way because we need to be taught the right way to walk in victory.
Perhaps you have issues with:
Attitudes: You hate; you are racists. You are s*xist. You think other people suck! You want to be nice to your spouse, but he/she drives you nuts.
Actions: You keep doing a habit over and over, like you do not want to drink, or do drugs, or steal, or lust, or lie, but you keep doing it
Aspirations: You know you are not to seek to be popular, rich, the top-dog, a s*x symbol to others, etc., but you keep seeking those things.
Let's be real. Here is an example: Some of us struggle with po*******hy. It calls out to us. Every television advertisement, or social media post seems to enflame these desires. So, we try, try, try to resist and then we fail, fail, and fail again... and again. It's a horrible cycle and causes one to feel grief and shame, when one is promised victory and joy.
Perhaps this isn't your sin, but you know the same cycle. Gang! Christ came to help us walk in victory and there is a wonderful way to experience it but we must come to him, willing to learn the new way, not just willing to resist the sin.
Any Hoot, I will be teaching Sunday on how to be taught by God so we may walk in victory. This sermon will give us all the tools needed to start experiencing His victory over persistent sins, so we can be free from them and able to share what we have learned with other disciples.
