Our Ascension Worship Volunteer of the Week is the amazing Chris Pinkerton. A jack of all trades, you can find Chris playing either drums, bass, electric, or acoustic guitar in the Praise Band. Chris can play most any instrument (except for double reeds?!)

Chris has participated in multiple groups in his 30 years at Ascension, from Building Committee to Call Committee. Chris sang in the Small Group Ensemble, Barbershop Quartet, and the Adult Choir as needed. He played handbells for several years and occasionally played a tuba (!) for special events. Chris and his wife, Samantha, both used to participate in dramas whenever time allowed.

Today we give thanks for the absolute GIFT that Chris is to Ascension. Drop a word of thanks in the comments for Chris or better yet, thank him in person (he plays almost EVERY WEEK at the 10:31 service, most recently on drums!)

Today officially starts Champ Camp at Camp Lutherhaven in Coeur d’Alene, ID!!

We have been at camp since Friday and we are so excited to meet our campers today who we will be paired up with for the week!

Our Ascension Worship Volunteer of the Week is Kyle Sprute! He is pictured here with his son, Leif! Kyle started volunteering recently by playing the piano at the 5pm and 8:30am services (and occasionally with the Praise Team at the 10:31 service)! Kyle probably "stands out" to you the most when he "stands" and plays the String Bass. Kyle has a deep love for the Lord and appreciation for the LCMS history & theology! Here is your Psalm of the Week - Psalm 28!
Last week I used The Message translation. This week, let's try the NIV! Please enjoy this Psalm and use it as part of your daily time in God's word.

1 To you, Lord, I call;
you are my Rock,
do not turn a deaf ear to me.
For if you remain silent,
I will be like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear my cry for mercy
as I call to you for help,
as I lift up my hands
toward your Most Holy Place.

3 Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors
but harbor malice in their hearts.
4 Repay them for their deeds
and for their evil work;
repay them for what their hands have done
and bring back on them what they deserve.

5 Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord
and what his hands have done,
he will tear them down
and never build them up again.

Yesterday, sadly was our final day of Rainforest Falls !! We learned about how God is forever !! We also imagined what we think heaven will be like and what God told John it is like. At the closing station, we shook our praise plates that we made during craft time while we sang our song of the week, "God is"! Come see us sing it during the 10:31a service tomorrow !!
We get to praise the Lord now and forever !!

Thank you to everyone who made this week happen!! It was a lot of fun getting to share the love of Jesus and we couldn't do it by ourselves!! The many hours of decorating, prepping, and prayers are so appreciated !!

We had 27 kids join us for Vacation Bible School!
