Two Arizona churches are fighting in federal court to establish a right to use a sacramental tea brewed from plants containing a hallucinogenic compound in their religious practice.

Many of you have already heard that our dear friend in the medicine community, Clay Villanueva, has passed. He died at his home the morning of April 1st. Clay was loved in the community for his work. We trust that that his memorial will be an occasion for deepening the union of our religious community and to stand in remembrance of the love we all share.

Stand with us in supporting the rights of Ayahuasca churches across North America. Church minister Clay Villanueva has been released from jail. But our legal battle is far from over in righting the injustices stemming from the DEA's ongoing war on our religious communities. Forcing him from his cancer treatment, Clay's time in jail very nearly cost him his life. Our communities are simply asking to stand equally with all religions in the US. It's not a tall order. Plus it's a mandate already established by the US Supreme Court. Help us send a clear message. We deserve and demand our religious freedom. Religious freedom means not being locked up for it. Religious freedom is not a crime.

NAAVC had its first appearance in Federal District Court in San Francisco on Sept 9th to challenge the DEA’s assertion that visionary churches may not practice until they have been approved for worship by DEA officials. After being mandated by the courts to establish an exemption process some ten years ago, the DEA has approved exactly zero churches for worship. Once the DEA put their exemption application in place, they required churches to stop worship services until approved. And since no applications have been approved in ten years, it's remained business as usual for the DEA. The NAAVC sued after the DEA refused to respond to the NAAVC's requests for it to come into compliance with the law. Our contention is that the DEA has falsified a public application process and ignored court order, administrative law, public comment requirements, presidential executive order, Federal statute, plus in-your-face violation of constitutional law. It would appear that the DEA has gone rogue. If they're going to administer the law, it's time the DEA came into compliance with the law. We're now awaiting the initial ruling by Judge William H. Orick on a number of threshold issues, including jurisdiction, before we can move onto the next phase of litigation. Wish us all well in this battle for the rights of our community. The National Association of Visionary Churches (NAAVC) is seeking recovery of medicina improperly seized by Federal authorities in violation of all Churches' right to Free Expression. In its active suit of the DEA now in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California, we're actively compiling a pattern of abuse by Federal authorities. NAAVC is heading to Federal District Court in San Francisco on Sept 9th to challenge the DEA’s mishandling of their religious exemption process for visionary churches. We expect our religious community’s grievances to gain a fair hearing before Judge William H. Orick. Thanks to all of you who have taken the time to sign and read our, that is to say, your petition to the DEA. This petition letter is the original sent to the DEA on January 8th of this year. When we didn’t hear back, we sued the DEA on May 5th. Now we arrive in the Federal District Court for Northern California on Sept 9th. Wish us well. In the meantime, take a moment to sign our anonymous petition and share it with others. Send the DEA a message: After years of impeding our religious freedoms, it’s now time to stop denying the full rights of our religious community. Thanks for signing. You’re part of a movement.
