This week's post from the ETC (Engagement Through Communication) team:
Each year across the country, millions of people face mental health challenges such as anxiety disorders, depressive episodes, bipolar disorders, and other mental health issues. As we mark Mental Health Awareness Month this May, it's more important than ever to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health. No person should have to face these challenges alone. Every challenge we’ve faced has shaped us into who we are today. By embracing and sharing our experiences, we empower others to do the same. Together, we create a movement of courage, healing, and connection. Never forget: It's okay to ask for help. You are not alone.

This week's post from the ETC (Engagement Through Communication) team:
As Memorial Day approaches, many of us are looking forward to a family cookout, the opening of the local pool, or just an extra day off work.

In honor of this national observance, let us also take a moment to remember those who laid down their lives in service of our country. And let us especially pray for a peace in which such sacrifice would no longer be needed.

“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13)

This week's post from the ETC (Engagement Through Communication) team:
May's mission focus at Mays Chapel UMC is the Karina Association, which this year celebrates its fifteenth year of ministry! A long-time partner of our church, Karina's mission is to build acceptance and inclusion for persons of all abilities in a society where most people take inclusion for granted. Karina stands for Knowledge, Awareness, Recognition, Inclusion, Nuturance, and Acceptance. Each of these factors plays an important part in Karina's strategy of incorporating persons with disabilities into the community through community-based activities, vocational training, employment services, personal development opportunities, and raising community awareness. Karina is committed to serving God and the community with compassion, love, and dedication. Visit Karina's website at www.karina-association.net for more information on ways you can help this extraordinary organization!

This week's post from the ETC (Engagement Through Communication) team:
As we approach Mother's Day on Sunday, let's take a moment to thank God for the mothers and mother-figures who have nurtured us in our faith through the years. Let us acknowledge and lift up those for whom this day is a struggle rather than a celebration. And
let us look for ways to reflect God's motherly nurturing to all. Happy Mother's Day!

“As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 66:13)

This week's post from the ETC (Engagement Through Communication) team:
Mays Chapel UMC is proud to support a wide variety of important missions. In addition to the specific missions highlighted every month, we provide on-going financial support to other worthy endeavors in our community such as purchasing supplies for our unhoused individual care kits, donations to the Manna House Breakfast Club, emergency aid requests, travel for mission activities, and other needs that may arise during the year. Any financial donations to support these activities can be designated as General Missions, and are much appreciated! Thank you for supporting the wonderful mission work here at Mays Chapel UMC.

This week's post from the ETC (Engagement Through Communication) team:
Genesis 2:15 tells us, "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."

From the beginning, the Bible tells us that people are part of God's creation and also its caretakers. On this Earth Day, we reflect on that role.

How are we helping to protect God's creation? What more should we be doing?

Let us thank God for the gift of creation and work to preserve that gift.
