Let us also acknowledge and lift up those for whom this day can be one of sadness and struggle. May we always find opportunities to provide guidance and love to everyone in our lives. Juneteenth (June 19th) this year marks the 161st anniversary of the formal end of slavery in the United States, when the enslaved people in Galveston, TX were at last officially freed from bo***ge. Although Juneteenth was only recently recognized as a federal holiday, it has been celebrated since the 1860s to commemorate that momentous day. What does this mean for us? The Bible tells us that there is "neither slave nor free...for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gal 3:28). As a result, we celebrate the reminder of Juneteenth that all God's children should be free to experience abundant life, and we recommit ourselves to working for equality and justice in the world today.

June is Pride Month in the US, a chance to acknowledge the struggles and celebrate the contributions of members of the LGBTQ+ community. We confess that the church has not always been a good ally to these siblings in Christ. Yet, we are proud that our congregation

Each year across the country, millions of people face mental health challenges such as anxiety disorders, depressive episodes, bipolar disorders, and other mental health issues. As we mark Mental Health Awareness Month this May, it's more important than ever to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health. No person should have to face these challenges alone. Every challenge we’ve faced has shaped us into who we are today. By embracing and sharing our experiences, we empower others to do the same. Together, we create a movement of courage, healing, and connection. Never forget: It's okay to ask for help. You are not alone.

As Memorial Day approaches, many of us are looking forward to a family cookout, the opening of the local pool, or just an extra day off work.

In honor of this national observance, let us also take a moment to remember those who laid down their lives in service of our country. And let us especially pray for a peace in which such sacrifice would no longer be needed.
