Religion alone will not heal divides. No amount of rule following will fix people. What was the good Samaritan willing to do that the others were not? Jesus gives us the formula: SEE PEOPLE, HAVE COMPASSION, MOVE TOWARD, TEND TO WOUNDS.

May God open our eyes to see people as He sees them.

Sometimes we may feel like our past holds us back from participating in certain opportunities that God presents to us. We let others' opinions and our shame hold us from entering into the conversation, the meal, the celebration--the Promised Land. We may feel like we don't belong.

The lie that you don't fit in.

The lie that you aren't enough.

The lie that you're missing out.

The lie that you don't have what she/they need.

We all struggle with these lies at some point in our journey, and sometimes we believe them so much that we hate others who appear to have what we're missing. But go back to the Garden of Eden to see what Adam did when the serpent started talking. Somehow, even though he had a perfect life in unity with God, he turned passive and didn't protect his wife. Have you been there in the moment that counts and you have a choice to be brave or to give in? You're not alone. But this doesn't count you out--not if Christ's death on the cross means anything to you.

Let's look at it another way: we want to be needed. We want to be known and loved, to belong. And Brant Hansen talks about all of this in his book, "The Men We Need". You can watch the video with Focus on the Family (Part 1) to start targeting some of those lies you may be believing. 💪💪🏻💪🏼💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿

Some lies take us on a journey we didn't sign up for...at least we wouldn't have if we knew how painful it was to those around us. Po*******hy is one of those lies that promises fulfillment, control and validation, but actually doesn't meet the need we thought it would. It pulls us deeper into a web of depravity that sucks our time, our money and our relationships.

Our very own Josh Glaser leads a ministry called Regeneration Ministries and he recently co-wrote a book with Daniel Weiss to help parents navigate this topic with their kids. Here they are on Focus on the Family .

1/18/20: To ensure the safety of our guests and staff, today's Saturday 5 PM service is canceled. At this time, Sunday services will continue on Jan. 19 at 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM, and 12:30 PM (temporary service during 9 for 92). Our team will continue to monitor the forecast. Get Ready Men!
Men: Happy 2020 !! Can you believe it?!

While we may not know all the New Year may bring, we all have a say in the kind of person we are becoming. Dallas Willard once said, “We are all becoming a certain kind of person…. it isn’t IF we are, it’s just WHAT KIND of person you are becoming”. Meaning that formation as a person isn’t optional. That statement impacted me greatly because I want to keep growing and I want my heart to expand to be able to love better. I don’t want to just live my life, I want to consider with greater intentionality the life I am living. Maybe that’s why I enjoy Ironmen so much. It helps me take an honest look at the man I am becoming and it aids me in considering (with intentionality) the kind of life I am living. I believe it can do that, for every man who joins in.

Not If…. Just When

Being one of the 7 billion people that inhabit Planet Earth is wild to consider. Each person is unique in their DNA, personality and giftedness. If we would slow down long enough to consider it, we would realize that each of us is a miraculous and unrepeatable display of beauty. We’d also notice we share a lot in common. Clearly, there are certain realities we “ALL” must confront and deal with over the course of our lifetime. Realities are unavoidable, and it’s no secret that some of us have learned to face them better than others. The implications of facing many of life’s challenges well can be far-reaching and can deeply impact our sense of well-being and soundness of mind.
If you are up for the challenge and encouragement that can come from facing life’s inevitable realties head-on, then the Winter Session of Ironmen 2020 is for you! Besides the encouragement you will glean from what you learn, you will also meet and connect with numerous men who want to do the same thing. The word on the street has been: “It’s time well spent”. The dates and time for the Winter session are:

*Monday Session PM meets at 7 to 8:30 PM
9 starting January 13 -thru- March

*Thursday Session AM meets at 6:15 to 7:45 AM
starting January 16 -thru- March 5

Winter Weather Alert: The Monday evening session will meet if the GFC building remains open: A decision is usually made by 3:00 pm.

Just a reminder that there is NO Ironmen this Thursday (23rd) or next Monday (27th)! We will resume on May 30th and June 3rd respectively to finish out the Spring session! Thanks and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
