God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters. Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

With profound sadness, we share that Msgr. Paul Cook passed away peacefully in his apartment around 1:30 this morning.

We pray for God’s eternal peace for Fr. Paul, and we give immense thanks for his 67 years of priestly ministry and untiring devotion to St. Joseph Parish, where he served as pastor for 37 years.

So much of what our parish is today comes from Fr. Paul’s insights, efforts, and pastoral zeal. His legacy is all around us.

Please keep his sister, Sr. Mary Ann Cook, SND, and his many close friends in your prayers at this time.

Fr. Paul’s funeral will be celebrated here at St. Joseph. Please stay tuned as plans are finalized.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
