There is something powerful about the fact that Noah’s ark was not built like a ship. The Hebrew word 'tevah' describes a box or chest; not a vessel designed to navigate its own way through the waters. No sail to catch the wind, no oars to fight the current, no rudder to determine the direction.
Because we spend so much of our lives trying to hold the wheel, control the current, and negotiate the waves. But there are seasons when God will put you in a place where you cannot steer, cannot see, and cannot explain where the waters are taking you.
All you can do is trust the One who knows where you are going!
And here is the revelation: The same Hebrew word, "tevah," appears in the story of baby Moses, placed in a basket and hidden among the reeds of the Nile. Two different lives. Two dangerous waters. Two vessels with no means of self-direction. Yet both were preserved for a purpose greater than themselves.
Noah was being carried through judgment; Moses was being carried toward deliverance. One would preserve a family through whom humanity would continue; the other would grow up to lead a nation out of bo***ge.
And neither one could see the greatness of the purpose while sitting inside the vessel of preservation!
Sometimes, God will put you in something you cannot control because He is teaching you to trust what you cannot see. You may not have a sail, but you have a Savior. You may not have a rudder, but you have a Redeemer. You may not know what is beneath you, what is around you, or what is waiting ahead of you, but if God has provided the vessel, you can trust Him with the voyage!
Don't abandon your vessel just because you cannot control the waters! The waters may be rising, but your God has not resigned. The waves may be moving, but your purpose has not been misplaced. You may feel carried by circumstances you never chose, through storms you never expected, toward a destination you cannot yet discern.
But... When you cannot steer, you can still trust. When you cannot see, you can still believe. And when you cannot explain the journey, you can still worship the God who holds your future!
Because the God who kept Noah through the flood is the God who preserved Moses in the Nile. And the God who kept them then is still able to keep you now!
You don't have to know how the story will unfold when you know who holds the story in His hands!
So let the wind blow! Let the waters rise! Let the current carry you!
For when God is your keeper, the storm may determine the movement of your vessel; but it does not get to determine the purpose of your life!
And when the waters have done all they were permitted to do, God will bring you to the place He prepared for you!
