What an incredible season of transformation! We are still overflowing with gratitude for our baptism rally gathering on August 13th. A massive thank you to Hope Church and every single volunteer who made the day possible, from helping the free bike wash ministry to the evening gathering. To those who chose to be baptized: we are so deeply honored that you allowed us to be a part of your journey, and we are excited to keep walking it together.
We also want to extend a huge thank you to Michael Rodriguez. Thank you for traveling down from Billings and delivering such a profoundly powerful message of deep spiritual hope through your testimony.

Tonight, we are honoring clean and sober time birthdays for this month. We get to hear from and celebrate our Campus Lead, Bob Nelson, who just reached 4 years of recovery on August 17th! Bob treats helping the still-suffering alcoholic as a matter of life and death (because it is). His fierce dedication to the Lord, to his personal recovery, and to this ministry is a powerful light that helps so many.

We are having an absolute blast serving alongside an incredible bike ministry at Hope Church today, and we are getting everything set up for our special gathering TONIGHT! We can’t wait to fellowship, worship, and step into the waters of baptism together! 🌊🙌

Whether you’ve been in recovery for years or are looking for a fresh start, come as you are. Jesus meets us right where we are!

Words carry immense power—to heal, to encourage, and to point others to freedom. As Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."
In recovery, how we share our stories matters. When we introduce ourselves and acknowledge our past as addicts or alcoholics in recovery, it isn't to deny our new creation in Christ. It’s to build a bridge. It tells the person sitting in the back row, feeling isolated and crushed by shame: "I have walked in your shoes, God redeemed my life, and He can do the exact same for you."
Our true identity is found in Jesus, and we use our voices to meet people right where they are—showing that no matter how far gone you feel, hope and redemption are within reach. We are a church for people in recovery, by people in recovery! 🤍

Tonight, our chairperson will be leading us through a powerful topic: Step 10-("Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it") and the theme of Conviction: Guidance and Direction From the Holy Spirit.

Taking an honest look at our lives can sometimes feel heavy, but in Christ, conviction is never condemnation—it is the Holy Spirit's loving guidance keeping us on the path to true, lasting freedom. At Recovery Church, we value being raw, real, and authentic as we bridge the 12 Steps with the unconditional love and grace of Jesus.

What a powerful evening! With the Sturgis rally bringing so much energy to town, it is an incredible time for ministry. Thursday night, we were so blessed to be visited by some of the amazing team from Gethsemane Ministries all the way from Washington! They are here on a mission trip, dedicated to sharing the gospel, loving people where they are at, and helping them find true redemption in Christ. Thank you so much for coming to see us and sharing your stories. We are praying fiercely for your team as you shine a light in our community!
Thursday night, our meeting topic dug deep into a tough word: "Deserve."
Addiction can leave us so broken that we convince ourselves we don't deserve a second chance, or we feel entitled to things we aren't getting yet. But the rooms of recovery, and more importantly, Jesus, teach us that love is given, not earned. Romans 5:8 reminds us: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
We didn't deserve grace when we showed up broken, but we were loved anyway. Let's step out of the trap of what we think we deserve, accept God's unearned grace, and just do the next right thing.

There is a very real heaviness in the world right now. Addiction is a brutal, exhausting spiritual battle, and there are days when the weight of our hurt leaves us feeling completely crushed. If you are in that dark place today, please know this: you are not abandoned. As Psalms 34:18 reminds us, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He meets us right in the middle of our mess.
Tonight, we gather to shine a light in the dark and witness the proof of His saving grace. Even in the midst of the heaviest battles, there are incredible victories to celebrate.
Tonight is Anniversary Night! We are honoring June clean-time birthdays with pizza, cupcakes, and fellowship 🍕🧁💞We will lift our heavy hearts through live worship, and we will hear a personal testimony from a speaker who is also celebrating a clean time birthday for the month of June.
We are a church for people in recovery, by people in recovery.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night, shared your recovery journey, and pointed us toward Christ. It was a deeply special time, and we were so honored to celebrate milestones by handing out a couple of clean time crosses!

At Hope-Sturgis Recovery Church, we know that lasting sobriety isn't found in our own strength. True, life-changing freedom comes directly from the Holy Spirit. He meets us exactly where we are, taking our brokenness and replacing it with an abundant, sober life. When we surrender to Him, the chains of addiction truly break.
Whether you are rooted in faith or just desperately looking for a way out of the darkness, there is a seat for you here in Sturgis next week. 🪑
