Revelation 21-22

1. Where is the most beautiful place you have ever been? What was it that impressed you about this place?

2. What book or movie or tv series do you remember having a suitable or fulfilling ending? What was one that you remember where the ending was the opposite? What was the difference?

3. What is the message the John / Jesus in the closing chapters of Revelation?

4. Where will the action of Revelation 21-22 be carried out? Earth? Heaven? Something else altogether?

5a. Who will the residents of the “New Jerusalem” be? (Relation 21:1-4)
b. Who or what is there and who or what is not?

6. What is and what is not included in Revelation 21:5? What is the author talking about?

7. How do you think the original audience received John’s message of what was in store for them? Do we feel the same way? Why or why not?

8. Does what is promised in Revelation 21-22 change how we live today? Why or why not? How so?

9. How is the final state of humanity determined? By an arbitrary reward system? By what we have done in this life? By our response to the invitation to “come”? (Revelation 22: 7, 12, 20)

10. Is it ever too late for someone to choose the way of the Slain Lamb? Yes / no? Why or why not?

11. How has your study of Revelation and its connection to other parts of Scripture influence your view or understanding of the Bible?

1. What are you waiting for right now with eager anticipation? What have you had to wait for in the past that “seemed like you were waiting for forever”?

2. What do you believe about the end? Does it matter? Why or why not?

3. When should we get urgent about our faith? Why? What does urgency look like?

4. Have you ever asked the question: How close to the world can I get and still be a Christian? What is the problem(s) with that question?

5. How do I participate in showing the world that God is King of my heart in my own personal growth?

6. How are we showing Jesus is the King of my heart if we are also holding onto brokenness? (brokenness is anything in my life that isn’t His intent for me!)

7. How do I show the world that God is the King of my heart in my work?

1. When was the last time you or your favorite team “won it all”? Was it a difficult process to get to that point? What was the key to win in this way?

2. Name some things for which you are extremely grateful to God. How do you usually express your gratitude?

3. Who is the bride? (Revelation 19:6-8) How does she prepare herself?

4. Give an example of loving your enemies. Why / how would we do this?

5. Give an example of praying for your enemies. Why would we do this?

6. Has your interest in worshiping God increased or decreased in the last year?

7. How has your study of Revelation influenced your desire to worship God?

8. How does the defeat of Babylon and the triumph and glory of the LORD God affect your overall view of your problems here and now?

9. What is one problem/situation you hope to manage more confidently and joyfully as a result of your study of Revelation?

Revelation 18

1. What is your favorite vacation destination?

2. In Revelation 18, how does God’s perspective on Babylon differ from Babylon’s self-understanding?

3. How do the voices of the world greet the fall of Babylon? Why so? Why would you mourn if you were in their situation?

4. In what ways do you identify with the imagery in Revelation 18? Do you identify with Babylon in any way? The merchants who buy from Babylon? Those who mourn at Babylon’s fall?

5. Have you been blessed by God? If so, what does God expect you to do with this blessing?

6. What is one positive change you can make in the application of John’s message from Revelation 18? (this may seem small to us, but so is a mustard seed!)

7. Do you see John’s message from Revelation 18 as encouraging? Why or why not? (How did the original audience receive this? What is the author’s intent?)

4. Compare the Biblical references to Babylon (both Old and New Testaments) to our country and who we are today. (is our EMPIRE any different today?)
