CHIMING OF THE HOUR

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS Rev. Dr. Jeff Binder

INTROIT “Again, I Say Rejoice”
by Israel Houghton & Aaron Lindsey © 2004 Integrity's Praise

WORDS OF PRAISE Psalm 114:1-8 Scott Wilson
When Israel went out from Egypt,
the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
Judah became God’s sanctuary,
Israel God’s dominion.
The sea looked and fled;
Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills like lambs.
Why is it, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?
O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the LORD,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turns the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of water.

*OPENING HYMN #442 “Just As I Am, Without One Plea”

*OPENING PRAYER Unison
God of the endless stars, we seek your guidance and provisions once again, as we venture through the wilderness, as we encounter you at our most vulnerable state. Forgive us for when we doubt your intentions for our living and well
being. May we learn to trust in your ways, and for our lives to reflect your ways for others around us.
Nourish us and fill us with your grace once again, O Lord, our redeemer.

*ASSURANCE OF GOD’S GRACE
Friends, the good news is that because of God’s unending grace in the waters
of creation, in the waters of baptism, and in our daily lives, we are forgiven and
made new!
Thanks be to God!

*PASSING OF THE PEACE
The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.

*RESPONSE OF PRAISE #581 “Glory Be to the Father”

SCRIPTURE READING Genesis 41 selected verses
This is the word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!

ANTHEM “The Strength of the Lord"
by Phil McHugh © 1987 River Oaks Music

SERMON “On Dreaming” Rev. Dr. Jeff Binder

*HYMN OF RESPONSE #93 “Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates”

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostles’ Creed (Ecumenical Version) Unison
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the
Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER Hymnal pg. 35
