Sunday Reflection: My Unusual Thanks

As we begin this new week, we are reflecting on a powerful thought shared by Overseer Torri Anthony before delivering his message, "It's Go Time" from Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Before he ever reached the text, he challenged us with a thought called "My Unusual Thanks."

When someone cosigns for us, we naturally say, "Thank you." We appreciate the person who put their name, reputation, and credibility on the line for us. But Overseer reminded us that there is One who has done something far greater.

God has allowed us to use the name of His Son, Jesus.

Every time we pray, every time we call on His name, every time we declare healing, deliverance, peace, provision, and victory, we are operating under a name that carries all authority in heaven and earth.

What if this week we paused and offered God an unusual thank you?

Thank You, Lord, for the privilege of calling on the name of Jesus.
Thank You for giving us access to a name that opens doors no man can shut.
Thank You for a name that breaks chains, heals hearts, saves souls, and changes lives.

As you go throughout this week, don't just use the name of Jesus, thank God for the privilege of having access to it.

Yesterday during our Sabbath Worship Service, Overseer Torri Anthony preached a powerful message from Philippians 4:19 (KJV) entitled, “The Need Before the Miracle.”

He reminded us that before God performs a miracle, there is first a need that must be present.

Jairus had a need — his daughter was dying, and he needed Jesus to come quickly.

The woman with the issue of blood had a need — after suffering for 12 long years, she needed healing and restoration.

Blind Bartimaeus had a need — he needed his sight and refused to let the crowd silence his cry for help.

Each person had a different situation, but they all had one thing in common: they recognized their need and brought it to Jesus. Overseer reminded us that sometimes the need is what positions us for the miracle. Your struggle, your pain, your weakness, or your circumstance may be the very thing God uses to reveal His power.

Here’s just a snippet of the powerful Word that was brought forth yesterday. We thank God for another impactful Sabbath Worship Service!

Today Pastor Amond Prater preached a mighty Word from Proverbs 14:30: A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

He used the story of and to show how envy, when left unchecked, can turn into jealousy, bitterness, and destruction. Cain allowed what was in his heart to overpower his obedience to God.

One thing that stood out was when he said our disobedience has served as a gateway to sin. When we ignore God’s instructions, entertain wrong emotions, and refuse correction, we open doors that were never meant to be opened. What starts as envy can grow into anger, division, and even spiritual death if we don’t deal with it.

The message reminded us to guard our hearts, stay obedient, and trust God’s timing for our own lives. What God has for you is for YOU. Stop comparing, stop competing, and stay in position for what God is doing in your season.

Powerful Word today! 🙌🏾🔥

Are your words building or breaking?

Matthew 18:15
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone.

God gives a clear strategy:
Go to the source not the circle.
