Every day we face big questions. Should I take that job? Make that move? Have that hard conversation? At the root of all of them is the biggest question of all -- the one the rich young ruler brought to Jesus in Mark 10: What must I do to inherit eternal life?

This week Pastor Justin walked us through one of the most searching passages in the Gospels, showing us that wise discernment is not about having all the answers. It is about knowing the one who does. Before you trust the answer, you have to trust the answerer.

The trail to wisdom starts with an honest look at your own heart. Are you following the wrong compass? Carrying the wrong provisions? Jesus calls us to drop what weighs us down, turn toward him, and walk with him -- because he has already chosen to walk with us.

Ever felt that sinking realization that you've dug yourself into a hole? Peter knew that feeling all too well after denying Jesus three times. But what Jesus did next changes everything.

Around a charcoal fire—the same setting where Peter had denied him—Jesus offered something extraordinary: a do-over. Not to erase the past, but to redeem it. Three denials met with three opportunities to affirm his love. Jesus didn't leave Peter in his shame; He lifted him out with grace, reconnected him through a meal, and restored his calling with two powerful words: "Follow me."

This is the heart of the gospel. When our wisdom deficits are exposed—when we're naive, foolish, or crushed in spirit—Jesus meets us with grace. He provides everything we need for restoration, even dignifying what we bring to the table, though it was His gift in the first place.

Growing wiser with Jesus starts with accepting His amazing grace. And when we receive it, we're empowered to extend that same grace to others.

Missionary Partner Spotlight: The Norton Family

City Church STL is excited to support Clarke and Khrystya Norton as they follow God’s call to global church planting.
After faithfully serving in Lviv, Ukraine, from 2009 to 2021 where they watched a small group grow into a vibrant, Christ-centered community, the Nortons are stepping into a new chapter in Oslo, Norway.

They have joined Grace International Church. The Norton’s goal is to establish a flagship church in Oslo that will serve as a sending base for future church plants across Scandinavia.

Join Us in Prayer This Week: The Norton's are still on the search for suitable housing. Pray with the Norton's for the Lord to provide a place that is suitable for family life and ministry. Additionally, their departure date is set for August 10th! Ask the Lord be a shield 'about' the Norton's (Ps. 3) in this transition period granting them trust in Him who 'keeps' them (Ps. 121). Let us uplift the Norton family and the people they minister in Oslo, may they all encounter the truth of the gospel and the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

"A crushed spirit—who can bear?" (Proverbs 18:14)

Jesus knows that in this broken world, there are seasons when our spirits feel crushed by sorrow, deferred hopes, or overwhelming anxiety. You're not weak. You're not unfaithful. You're human, and He sees you.

On the road to Emmaus, Jesus didn't immediately reveal Himself to His grieving followers. Instead, He walked with them, asked questions, and listened. He offered presence before answers. Eventually, it was in the breaking of bread—in simple communion—that their eyes were opened.

The wisdom of Jesus invites us to do the same: to sit with those who are hurting, to weep with those who weep, and to sing hope over one another even through tears. Because the resurrection reminds us that crushed spirits don't have the final word—Jesus does.

We all know that person who greets every new idea with a dismissive sneer. Or maybe we've been that person—sighing heavily to make sure everyone knows we're the smartest in the room, or giving someone the cold shoulder to protect our status.

This Sunday, we explored what Scripture calls "the scoffer"—someone driven by pride who tears others down to build themselves up. But here's the beautiful truth: Jesus sat at a Pharisee's table and endured sneering, sighing, and snubbing. And instead of responding in kind, He offered forgiveness and called even the proud to repentance.

The good news? Jesus doesn't steal our dignity—He restores it. Whether you've been scoffed at or you recognize the scoffer in yourself, Jesus offers healing and transformation. He took all our mockery on the cross so we could know Him in sincerity and truth.

Scoffing may be the currency of our culture, but it must not be so among us. We're called to walk in Jesus' steps—offering warmth where the world sneers, rolling up our sleeves where it sighs, and welcoming those the world snubs.

In a world where division seems to be the norm, how do we as believers achieve real unity? Herman Armstrong joined us last Sunday to remind us that in our own strength, unity is as fragile as a tower made of spaghetti and marshmallows—one wrong move and it all falls apart.

But here's the good news: Christ has already won the victory over sin, anger, hatred, and division. He's given us everything we need through His Spirit to pursue unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We're not just called to be unified—we're called to be ONE in our agreement about the gospel.

Paul's challenge in Ephesians 4 is clear: go back to God's Word, get ready for what He's called us to do, and grow up in spiritual maturity. When we remember we're on the same team—unified by one Lord, one faith, one baptism—we can work through any disagreement with grace and love. The question isn't whether we'll have differences, but whether we'll let the gospel remain the main thing that unites us.

In a world where power and compassion rarely walk together, we find hope in Jesus Christ. This Sunday, we explored Luke 7:11-17—the beautiful story of Jesus raising a widow's only son from death.

Picture this: a grieving widow, having lost both husband and son, faces a hopeless future. Then Jesus arrives. He doesn't just notice her pain—He feels it. With eyes full of compassion, He speaks life over death: "Young man, I say to you, arise." And the impossible happens.

This isn't just an ancient miracle. It's a portrait of who Jesus is for YOU today. He is both the Lord of limitless power AND the Savior of tender compassion. He sees you in your struggles, feels your pain, and speaks life into your darkest moments. This same Jesus who conquered death promises to raise all who trust in Him to everlasting life.

Don't refuse His love. Lean into His compassion. Lay claim to His saving power—it's offered to you right now.
