Trading Eternal Treasure for Temporary Trinkets
A garnet worth thousands exchanged for a $12 paperweight becomes a parable of spiritual compromise, warning against trading God’s glory for hollow substitutes—pleasure, pride, or self-sufficiency—while missing the priceless gift of Christ’s redemption. Like the merchant who undervalued raw beauty, we often choose flashy distractions over the weight of eternal truth. Every decision to indulge sin or silence conviction is a transaction: will we clutch creation or cling to the Creator? The gospel invites us to audit our exchanges before regret sets in.
