Fun filled day of worship and fellowship with Bishop John!

Bishop John made his annual Visitation to St Luke's Episcopal Church, Springfield, preaching and celebrating at the mid-morning service. The Bishop joined the congregation for a delicious covered dish lunch after the liturgy. Yesterday, as we observed Good Friday, our bell rang 33 times. Each toll marked a year of Jesus Christ’s life, a steady reminder of His sacrifice and the depth of His love.

Today, we enter Holy Saturday, a quieter, often overlooked space in the Episcopal tradition. It’s a day of waiting. A day to sit in stillness, to reflect, and to trust even when things feel uncertain.

If you’re wondering what to do today, keep it simple. Take a few minutes for prayer. Step outside and find some quiet. Read a passage of scripture. Light a candle. Hold space for both the weight of yesterday and the hope that’s just ahead.

Christmas at St. Luke’s is starting to feel real. Our manger scene is up on 7th Ave in Springfield, and we would genuinely love for you to be part of what comes next.

Join us for Christmas Eve Holy Eucharist on Wednesday, December 24 at 2:00 PM. If you have been looking for a church home, a fresh start, or just a place to worship without feeling like an outsider, this is it. We welcome everyone into our fold and we are family friendly in the most practical way, not just in the slogan way.

On Sundays, we gather for Eucharist at 10:00 AM. Most weeks include childcare, and after service we stick around for coffee hour with refreshments and Miss Christine’s world famous brownies. We meet in a 100 year old house just steps from the courthouse square in Springfield’s historic district. Small congregation, big heart, ambitious vision.

Our mission is simple and non negotiable. Building a community of love and acceptance for all God’s children.
