A PRAYER FOR LABOR DAY

God, in your goodness,
you have made a home for the worker.
Make a place in our hearts
for compassion to the men and women
who labor tirelessly for basic necessities.
Ensure a place for those
who are struggling to find work.
Grant us your wisdom to care for those
who are unable to work
due to illness or circumstance.
Be with us all, Lord,
as we go about the busyness of our work.
Hold us accountable not only for our actions,
but most importantly to each of our neighbors.
May we continue to work together
to bring about your reign!
We ask this in the name of Jesus,
through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Today following our 11 AM worship service, we surprised one of our dear saints with a liturgy consecrating our prayer room and naming it in her honor. Thank you, Zena, for your faithful witness to a life of prayer!

A NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR:

Dear friends, I hope you’re well!

Every person of faith understands the importance of prayer. Not only is it a primary means of communicating with God, but it’s also our sustenance; many of us have stories of how, in seasons of hardship or struggle, prayer—whether our own or offered on our behalf—has upheld us. Knowing we are prayed for can make a world of difference.

That’s why, starting tomorrow, I (and those who gather for midweek prayer) will be praying for the members of our church by name. Each week, we’ll lift several names to God until every person has been prayed for; then I will send a card to let you know prayers ascended for you that day.

My hope is that this small effort will provide encouragement and peace whenever and however they’re needed, and that through the act of praying with intention—and receiving prayer—our Maker’s grace would overflow.

God bless you!
Pastor Jason
