Have you ever read through Proverbs? More than just a random collection of religious fortune-cookie sayings, it is meant to bring genuine wisdom for real life. God wants us to discover a faith that deeply honors Him and takes Him at His word, and this kind of faith is called 'the fear of the Lord.' In this week's Destination Church podcast we join the story of Peter, a commercial fisherman who meets Jesus on the shore of Lake Galilee, and his journey through anxious fear to a radical, confident faith that could leave everything and follow Jesus.

Does God want us to be afraid or to be full of faith? The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7), but far from life-long anxiety, this God kind of fear also brings a strong confidence (Proverbs 14:26). The day Peter met Jesus o...

What has God said? What has He promised? Can we really cultivate the kingdom of God in the middle of a broken world? The last few sentences of Malachi resound with an emphatic yes as they reveal the relational heart of God and the foundational importance He places on family. In celebration of Mother's Day, this finale of our Big Questions series celebrates moms while also equipping each of us with five relationally healthy tools to look back, look ahead, look up, look in, and look outward together.

If you were God, how would you choose to conclude the Old Testament Scriptures? The last few sentences of Malachi in our Bibles reveal the relational heart of God for families. They also point to the significant influence the family of God can hav...

Where did you first hear the warning, "The end is near?" Hollywood? Christian media? Sitting on a church pew somewhere? Well, what does God think about this topic? Is 'the end' really near? Is there a day of destruction for the wicked? What about a day when everything will be made right? Is there a day of hope that lies ahead? In this week's podcast, we ask the dangerous question: "What Does God Think About 'The End'?

From movies to media preachers, "The end is near!" is a common theme. But what does God have to say about 'The End?' Malachi describes a coming day of radical contrasts: consuming fire, yet for the righteous, a day of joy and freedom. This day bri...

An encouraging word can be... transforming! So, what does God think about our words? He wants them to become exactly this: encouraging and transforming. In this week's Destination Church podcast, we tackle the topic of our words at their source: our hearts, and the even deeper transforming source of the heart of God. Enjoy!

Our words are powerful tools, and God takes note of how we use them. Words reveal hearts, and God loves to transform us from fault-finders into faith-finders. One of the most significant ways He transforms both our hearts (the fountain-source of o...

Does the topic of giving make you feel 'twitchy?' When churches talk about finances or tithing, it can be easy to think, "They are just after my money." But is that true? And what does God think about this topic? Check out Part 7 of our Big Questions series on the Destination Church Podcast: What Does God Think About Tithing?

When God answers the question, "How can we return to You?" we might be surprised when he starts talking about money and giving. When we learn to bring freely what rightfully belongs to Him, we are also learning to lead our hearts into healthy rela...

It's a good question: What does God think about sin? And maybe what we really mean is, what does God think about sinners? Our Big Questions series continues this week on the Destination Church podcast as we discover a God whose holy love refines and purifies, not only revealing, but removing sin that has been so interwoven with our lives we didn't realize we could ever be free from it! Take a listen, and then reach out. We'd love to hear how God is bringing freedom to your life!

God is committed to transforming us as His holy people. When we encounter His presence, we shouldn't be surprised when we find ourselves feeling undone, powerless in comparison to Him. Like a refining fire, God melts our hearts, purifying us as he...

That stone-cold feeling of hope and life being sucked out of your dreams... the women at Jesus' tomb must have felt like that. But then, the earthquake, the lighting-white angel, the stone rolled away, and the declaration: "He is not here. He has risen just as He said!" If Jesus is really and truly alive, then hope is alive with Him, and stone-cold hearts can be transformed into hope-filled hearts beating with resurrection life! Recapture faith and hope with this week's Easter edition of the Destination Church podcast!

Jesus' body was lying dead in a stone tomb. What had become of all His confident words? What had become of all the hopes and dreams of the women who watched the stone roll into place? But Jesus had also said His death was necessary, and promised H...

"Where is the God of justice?" We aren't the only ones asking that question. That's what God's own people were asking for hundreds of years leading up to what we know as Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. It's now just a few days before his crucifixion. The prophet Malachi had spoken of the Lord suddenly coming to his temple, but everyone expects the Messiah to ride in and deal with "them." Many of us still tend to think the same way, but where does Jesus go? Straight to the temple. He begins looking around, not at "them," but at everything within the house of God - at "us." And Jesus comes ready to deal with the idols in our systems and in our hearts that stand in the way of his compassionate justice. The good news? He has a great plan.

"Where is the God of justice?" The question is asked in culture after culture as people face the realities of evil in the world. Sometimes the question can be thrown back at God when we feel challenged by His word regarding our own sin. "Why would...
