Stop trying to earn a seat at a table that’s already been paid for.
For the last eight weeks, we’ve been tracking Jesus’ stories about the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost sons. And if you look closely, none of these stories end with a lecture, a courtroom trial, or a long period of probation.
They all end with a massive, neighborhood-shaking block party.
The shepherd fires up the grill. The woman sweeps the house and calls the neighbors. The father throws a banquet for both of his sons—the younger brother who blew it all in the pigpen, and the older brother who stayed home trying to earn his father's love.
This Monday night is incredibly special for us. We are celebrating exactly one year of FREE Community Dinners at ConnectDinners. Our mission from day one has been to look like the Father’s house—a space where everyone belongs and where you don't have to do anything special to fit in.
We learned what that looks like from the people who set the tables in our own lives, like my grandparents. Their doors were always open because they knew that family is relational, not transactional.
Whether you feel like you've been running wild in the pigpen, or you're simply exhausted from trying to earn your worth with a checklist, the search is over. The Father has already paid for the feast, and your seat is ready.
Come, pull up a chair, and let yourself be found by the One who has been looking for you this whole time.
See you Monday night at 5:30 PM. Dinner is on us.
