If you get to church early on a Sunday morning, you’ll see someone already there because they came even earlier to make coffee.
Or maybe later in the morning you’ll hear laughter coming from a kids’ room.
You’ll see somebody noticing the person standing by themselves and walking over to say hello.
Or outside of Sundays, you’ll see someone fixing the thing that broke. Again.
You’ll see people praying for each other when nobody else knows about it.
And it’ll probably be someone who has already had a long week trying give a couple more hours because they want a teenager or a four-year-old or a 74-year-old to know that you matter to God and us.
And it’s beautiful to see—people faithfully giving pieces of their lives away around here all the time. And I know we don’t or could ever say this enough:
Thank you.
Seriously. Thank you for making Somis Church about Jesus and making this more than a place we attend.
And so, because of all of this, on Sunday, September 20 from 5–7 PM, we’re throwing a party. We’re calling it TEAM NIGHT.
Originally, the idea was pretty simple: let’s have a night to celebrate our volunteers.
But why would we only invite volunteers?
What if we just invited everybody?
So that’s what we’re doing.
We’re turning Somis Church into a beach bonfire (minus flames inside) as we have a special dinner together, laugh a lot, hear from some of the people who make this place what it is, celebrate what God has already done, and dream about what might be next.
And maybe you’re thinking: Sounds great, but I’m not on a team.
Come anyway! Because you get to help us celebrate and appreciate and maybe you’ll also discover that you could have a part to play in all of this— passions, gifts, experiences. And maybe God could use some of that here.
Or maybe you just want to deeply appreciate people and show your thanks.
And bring the kids too! We’ll have a special event and dinner just for them!
So join us for Team Night—Sunday, September 20th 5–7 PM at Somis Church.
