Chapel City Church

Chapel City Church In the early 1900’s, the Camarillo area became known as the “Chapel City,” named after the numerous churches and their positive impact.

Our church was and remains an iconic symbol of faith in the community. Chapel City Church hopes to honor this history by continuing to impact our city through and for Jesus Christ.

For the last year, we have worked through the Book of Hebrews. We have been encouraged by the truth of who Christ is. We have been warned against the dangers of falling away. We have been called to live with joyful obedience, no matter our circumstances. This week, we come to the final lines of the book. Our author offers a final prayer on behalf of his beloved readers, and pleads for them to remember certain truths. So, what are the final things the author wants to convey? What thoughts of God occupy his mind and overflow his heart as he considers his closing? We would love to answer any questions you have and to know how we can be praying for you specifically.

Chapter 13 has given us a model of what it looks like to offer acceptable sacrifice to God. We love others through hospitality, meeting needs, and in marriage. We think rightly about money and provision. We understand that because Christ made the final sacrifice for our sins, we can offer the sacrifice of praise and thankfulness to Him. This week, we look at sacrifice as it relates to our response to leadership within the church. This can be a tricky thing to think through as we wrestle with expectations, experiences, and the reality that even the most faithful ministers are sinners in need of the same grace we need. But what does leadership look like within the church? How does God call us to respond and why? We would love to answer any questions you have and to know how we can be praying for you specifically.

We hope to see you Sunday at 9 AM for service and then for our prayer walk! We have been studying Hebrews 13, which began by focusing on love. We are called to love with a brotherly affection. That love extends to strangers in hospitality, and to those who are suffering. We saw the call to love well in the context of marriage, and last week the exhortation was to be free from the love of money. This week, we will work through a larger section that might, at first glance, feel confusing. Our author talks about spiritual leaders who have gone before, sacrifices, and lasting cities. But when we put it all together, we will see that the theme continues to be our faithful response to Jesus Christ. He has given us examples to follow. He has made promises that we know he will keep. And he has enabled us to respond with joyful obedience, no matter the circumstances.

We hope to see you tomorrow at 9AM! An obedient response to God never begins with a list of actions, even things that are objectively "good." As Christians, we know that without faith it is impossible to please God. Every piece of our obedience is a faith-driven response drawn from love. Because God loved us and transformed us at a heart level, we are able to love Him. And because we love God, we will also love people made in his image. And that love extends to every part of our lives. So far, we've seen brotherly love and love in the context of marriage. This week, we are going to think through love as it relates to money and possessions. What we value is ultimately a reflection of our hearts. And what we value will determine how we spend our time, our energy, and our resources. We would love to answer any questions you have and to know how we can be praying for you specifically.

We hope to see you tomorrow morning at 9 AM! As we continue working through Hebrews 13, we will see love play out in several different contexts. This week, we see what love looks like in marriage. The author gives one brief verse to the idea of honoring marriage, but we know that we could spend months working through God's design and purpose for that precious relationship. What does it mean to honor marriage? What was God's purpose in giving marriage to humanity? What happens when we turn away from God's plan for marriage? We would love to answer any questions you have and to know how we can be praying for you specifically.

This week we open up the final chapter of Hebrews. As he closes his letter to a people he loves dearly, our author has some important final points to make. In the coming weeks, we will work through brief points of practical application. And right at the beginning, we are reminded that love is the heart motivation behind all of these things. The love of God poured out on us enables us to love others. But what does that love look like? Who should receive our love? We would love to answer any questions you have and to know how we can be praying for you specifically.
