One of the offerings made at Christ Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 13 was the recital given by Tenor, Ricky Goodwyn, Jr. and Pianist, Chyn Leng Low to a small but appreciative audience. Ricky sang pieces by Copland, Verdi, Strauss and Bellini in the first half and closed with God Bless America, Bring Him Home, Make Them Hear You and the National Anthem. To those who knew him prior to college, they were amazed hearing him after his studies at James Madison. The performers drove down from the mountains to take part in the Sail 250 Event in Smithfield.

The Community Celebrates the Country's 250 Anniversary this weekend. Today the church will be open for tours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM there will be an hour recital by tenor, Ricky Goodlwyn, Jr. CEC Sunday Service, June 14 is at 10:30 AM: The Rev. Todd DeLaney, Celebrant; Heidi Bloch, Organist. All are welcome to the Lord's Table.

Sail 250 Weekend in Smithfield: Christ Episcopal Church will participate Saturday from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The church will be open for tours from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM a vocal recital will be given by tenor, Ricky Goodwyn, Jr. and pianist, Chyn Leng Low. There will be displays of the Mallory Todd family history and their relationship with St. Luke's and Christ Church. Come in and relax and cool off. Ornaments will be for sale as will something cool to drink, ice cream cups, cookies. Rest Rooms are available to the public.

Welcome to Smithfield Pastor Rebecca from your neighbor Christ Episcopal Church on the corner of Church and Main Streets.

Outgoing Pastor Dan and incoming Pastor Rebecca in the Sanctuary. We welcomed Pastor Rebecca to meet the staff today. And we are looking forward to her first Sunday of Worship with us on July 5th at 10am in the Family Activities Center.

Saturday, June 13 our Sail 250 Anniversary Celebration: CEC will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM to participate in this event. The church will be open for tours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM Ricky Goodwyn, Jr. will give an hour vocal concert of mixed songs from musicals, patriotic, and classical pieces. Contributions would be appreciated for the performers for their performance and trip down from Harrisonburg. Ricky first sang in this community in 2017 to a standing room only audience after graduating from high school. He has presented a number of concerts with a full house and standing ovations. He is trying to secure a plane ticket and expense coverage for vocal studies and auditions offered in Italy this summer. He would be grateful for your support. We thank he and his accompanist for their trip down from the mountains to be with us today.

Sunday's Lydia Li piano recital was excellent. Lydia was a Terrific Teen in our August 2025 recital. She was selected to give a full recital in 2026. Lydia began her piano lessons at age 5 with Mrs. Galina Epelman and continued to study with her through high school. Mrs. Galina was at the recital. Lydia will be graduating Friday from Princess Anne High School and the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) she has maintained. Lydia will attend UNC Chapel Hill in the fall on full scholarship as a major in neuroscience on a pre-med track. Sundays at Four presents most concerts at Christ Episcopal Church which has a fine chamber concert space with lovely stained glass windows and excellent acoustics. The last concert of the season will be August 2 - Terrific teen talent.
