Rev’s Review and Preview for August 30, 2026

Last week we heard Jesus ask Peter, “Who do you say that I am?” We each need to answer that question. But we don’t stop there because just knowing who Jesus is, does not make us disciples. We must realize that He loved us first. God’s grace came first. Our response to that grace is discipleship through knowing Christ, offering ourselves as living sacrifices, renewing our minds through study and prayer, using our God given gifts, and sharing this Good News to make other disciples.

This Sunday, we’ll discover that holy ground isn’t limited to church buildings—God often meets us in the most ordinary places and through the people around us. Moses’ encounter at the burning bush and Paul’s call to genuine love remind us that when God gets our attention, God also sends us out to love, welcome, and serve others. As we gather for our church picnic, we’ll consider how a simple conversation, an open seat at the table, or an unexpected encounter might become holy ground. Please join us and invite friends and family!

Rev’s Review and Preview for August 23, 2026
Last week we learned that God isn’t absent when He is silent. We tackled a difficult passage where Jesus seems to be out of character. In our Gospel lesson from Matthew, a desperate mother refuses to give up, even when the answer she’s looking for does not come easily. Her encounter with Jesus reminds us that great faith does not mean having all the answers—it means knowing where to go when we don’t.

This week, Jesus asks a defining question: “Who do you say that I am?” We’ll discover how Peter’s answer and Paul’s call to become “living sacrifices” show us that following Jesus is much more than believing the right things—it is about becoming disciples whose lives are transformed. And we’ll explore five practical ways to live as disciples: know Christ, offer ourselves, renew our minds, use our gifts, and help make other disciples.
