God places people in your life for a reason. Entering college seminary in Miami 2009, I would meet a 15 year old altar boy named Jorge at the parish where my spiritual director was pastor. We would reunite as seminarians for the Archdiocese of New Orleans seven years later as I moved him into St. Ben’s while I was a year into studies at Notre Dame Seminary. On June 1, 2019, I was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ. Five years later, on June 1, 2024, Fr. Jorge Gómez was ordained a priest and assigned here at St. Margaret Mary. Two Florida brothers, two different paths to the altar, sharing the same date of ordination. I’m proud of the good and holy priest he has become and so grateful to work alongside him in building up the kingdom right here in Slidell, LA.
