Un NUEVO TIEMPO para Emaús
Durante más de media década, hemos visto cómo ha ido tomando forma un hermoso jardín llamado Emaús, con sus surcos establecidos y sus límites definidos.
Y a lo largo de todo este camino, los rayos que han iluminado y sostenido este jardín han sido Dios mismo, porque solo Él da el crecimiento.
Ahora entramos en un nuevo tiempo.
El trabajo inicial de abrir y preparar una tierra que aún no había sido cultivada, y de establecer el jardín, ha quedado atrás. Ahora estamos llamados a cuidar lo que ha sido plantado, fortalecer sus raíces y ayudar a que lo que ha crecido continúe floreciendo.
Esto significa clarificar los principios y las estructuras que guían nuestra misión compartida, para que el Movimiento de Emaús permanezca fuerte y fiel a largo plazo.
Significa también fortalecer nuestros nuevos ministerios de servicio para que echen raíces firmes y continúen madurando en su misión.
También significa seguir perfeccionando nuestros retiros. Con cada retiro aprendemos, crecemos y mejoramos. Seguimos adelante con dedicación y con un corazón dispuesto a aprender, aprovechando la experiencia de los retiros anteriores para que cada retiro se convierta en un instrumento cada vez más hermoso de la gracia de Dios.
Lo mismo sucede con el segundo paso de Emaús: nuestros grupos pequeños. Así como seguimos perfeccionando nuestros retiros, también continuamos cultivando nuestros grupos pequeños. A medida que nuevos líderes dan un paso adelante, compartimos con ellos la sabiduría y la experiencia de quienes los han precedido, para que cada grupo continúe siendo un lugar de encuentro con el Señor, en, por medio de y con todos los que forman parte de él.
Honramos a los hombres y mujeres que han llevado a Emaús hasta este momento y que continúan entregándose generosamente a esta misión. Al mismo tiempo, celebramos y contamos con las muchas personas nuevas que están formando parte de Emaús y que ahora comenzarán a asumir nuevas responsabilidades de liderazgo.
Juntos, de generación en generación, estamos llamados a cuidar este jardín que Dios nos ha confiado.
Hermanos y hermanas de Emaús, como su Director Espiritual, mi corazón rebosa de gratitud: primero a Dios y después a todos ustedes que se han entregado a esta obra.
He visto a hombres y mujeres encontrarse con la ternura de Dios a través de este ministerio, y ese encuentro ha transformado sus vidas.
Estoy lleno de gratitud y esperanza, pidiendo a Dios que continúe haciendo brillar su luz sobre este jardín y que, juntos, podamos llevar su ternura a más y más corazones.
Que todos sean uno.

A New Season for Emaús
Over more than half a decade, we have watched a beautiful garden come into place called Emaús, its rows in place and its boundaries defined.
And through it all, the rays that have warmed and sustained this garden have been God’s very self, for He alone gives the growth.
We now enter a new season.
The early work of breaking untilled soil and establishing the garden is behind us. Now the call is to steward what has been planted, strengthen its roots, and help what has grown to flourish.
That means clarifying the principles and structures that guide our shared mission, so that the Emaús Movement remains strong and faithful for the long term.
It means strengthening our new outreach ministries so that they become firmly rooted and continue to mature in their mission.
It also means continually refining our retreats. With each retreat, we learn, we grow, and we improve. We bring steady energy and a learner’s heart, carrying forward the lessons of past retreats so that every retreat becomes an even more beautiful instrument of God’s grace.
The same is true of the second step of Emaús: our small groups. Just as we continue to refine our retreats, we also continue to cultivate our small groups. As new leaders step forward, we share with them the wisdom and experience of those who have gone before, so that each group continues to be a place of encounter with the Lord—in and through and with all who are part of it.
We honor the men and women who have brought Emaús to this point and who continue to give themselves generously to this mission. At the same time, we celebrate and count on the many new people who are becoming part of Emaús and who will now begin taking on new roles of leadership.
Together, across generations, we are called to tend this garden God has entrusted to us.
Brothers and sisters of Emaús, as your Spiritual Director, my heart overflows with gratitude—first to God, and then to all of you who have given yourselves to this work.
I have seen men and women encounter the tenderness of God through this ministry, and it has changed their lives.
I am filled with gratitude and hope, praying that God will continue to shine upon this garden and that, together, we may carry His tenderness to more and more hearts.
