A través de actos prácticos de servicio como:

¡Qué momento tan emocionante para el crecimiento del Movimiento Emaús en el Estado de Oklahoma!

Este mensaje tiene como propósito brindar claridad sobre un aspecto del Movimiento: el Paso 2—Grupos Pequeños.

Actualmente, nuestra práctica es invitar a los hombres y mujeres que han asistido a un Retiro de Emaús Oklahoma City a participar en los Grupos Pequeños de Emaús Oklahoma City. Esta continúa siendo nuestra práctica habitual, aunque se han hecho algunas excepciones cuando se consideró que hacerlo beneficiaría al Movimiento y a las personas involucradas.

Entiendo que el Movimiento Emaús en Tulsa ofrece seis retiros cada año, y que algunos miembros de la Arquidiócesis de Oklahoma City asisten a esos retiros y reciben muchos beneficios espirituales de ellos.

Sin embargo, en este momento, la participación en el Paso 2—Grupos Pequeños—está reservada para quienes hayan asistido a un Retiro de Emaús Oklahoma City.

Debido a que los retiros en Tulsa y en otras diócesis se llevan a cabo en fechas diferentes a lo largo del año, integrar participantes provenientes de distintos calendarios de retiros puede generar desafíos logísticos y organizativos.

Al mismo tiempo, reconocemos que existen argumentos reflexivos y sinceros en ambos lados de esta cuestión. Por esa razón, este tema será presentado para una mayor discusión y discernimiento durante nuestras reuniones de otoño con El Cuerpo, el Equipo de Liderazgo de Emaús Oklahoma City.

También queremos que sepan que todas las personas que hayan asistido a Retiros de Emaús en otras diócesis son cordialmente bienvenidas a participar en cualquier evento público de Emaús Oklahoma City.

What an exciting time for the growth of the Emaús Movement in the State of Oklahoma!

This message is intended to provide clarity regarding one aspect of the Movement: Step 2—Small Groups.

Currently, our practice is to invite men and women who have attended an Emaús Oklahoma City Retreat to participate in Emaús Oklahoma City Small Groups. This remains our standard practice, although a few exceptions have been made when doing so was judged beneficial for the good of the Movement and the people involved.

I understand that the Emaús Movement in Tulsa offers six retreats each year, and that some members of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City attend those retreats and receive many spiritual benefits from them.

At the present time, however, participation in Step 2—Small Groups—is reserved for those who have attended an Emaús Oklahoma City Retreat.

There are several reasons for this practice. One example is that all of our Small Groups begin at the same time, immediately following our retreat weekends. Because retreats in Tulsa and other dioceses are scheduled at different dates throughout the year, integrating participants from multiple retreat schedules can create logistical and organizational challenges.

At the same time, we recognize that there are thoughtful and sincere arguments on both sides of this question. For that reason, this topic will be brought forward for further discussion and discernment at our Fall Meetings with El Cuerpo, the Emaús Oklahoma City Leadership Team.

Please also know that all who have attended Emaús Retreats in other dioceses are warmly welcome to participate in any Emaús Oklahoma City public events.

Emaus at the Sacred Heart Festival!

I’m excited to share that Emaus Oklahoma City will be participating in the Sacred Heart Parish Festival tomorrow, June 7, at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine!

Our Emaus community will be hosting a food booth, and we would love for you to stop by, enjoy some delicious food, and support the brothers and sisters who are generously serving throughout the day.

The festival will take place from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rother Shrine. Bring your family and friends and join us for a day of faith, fellowship, food, and fun!

¡Emaús en el Festival del Sagrado Corazón!

Me da mucha alegría compartir que Emaús Oklahoma City estará participando en el Festival de la Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón, mañana, 7 de junio, en el Santuario del Beato Stanley Rother.

Nuestra comunidad de Emaús tendrá un puesto de comida y nos encantaría que pasaran a visitarnos, disfrutaran de algo delicioso y apoyaran a nuestros hermanos y hermanas que estarán sirviendo con mucho entusiasmo durante todo el día.

Recibí este mensaje hoy y quise compartirlo con ustedes.

Decía:

“Padre B,

Estoy muy, muy, muy feliz de ver las fotos suyas y de todos los demás, especialmente del Movimiento Emaús con la imagen del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

Quiero compartir algo que alguien me dijo esta mañana sobre Emaús. Ella comentó que está muy agradecida porque tiene la oportunidad de expresarse en su Grupo Pequeño. También le encanta ver a los hombres compartir sus experiencias abiertamente, sin miedo a ser juzgados.

Dijo que esto es muy sanador y que una de las cosas que más aprecia es el lema:

‘Lo que se dice aquí, aquí se queda.’

Luego dijo algo que tocó mi corazón:

‘Realmente siento que tengo una familia.’

Quise compartir eso con usted porque creo que es muy importante.

Felicitaciones, y alabado sea el Señor por todas las cosas maravillosas que están sucediendo en Emaús, por medio de Emaús y por medio de todos ustedes.

Mensajes como este me recuerdan que Emaús no es simplemente un retiro o un programa. Es un lugar donde las personas se encuentran con Cristo, encuentran sanación, construyen confianza y descubren que pertenecen a una familia de fe.

I received this message today and wanted to share it with you.

It said:

“Padre B,

I am very, very, very happy to see the pictures of you and everyone else, especially the photos of the Emaús Movement with the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

I want to share something that someone told me this morning about Emaús. She said she is so grateful because she has the opportunity to express herself in her Small Group. She also loves seeing the men share their experiences openly, without being afraid of being judged.

She said that this is very helpful because it brings healing. She especially appreciates the motto:

‘Whatever is said here, stays here.’

Then she said something that touched me deeply:

‘I really feel like I have a family.’

I wanted to share that with you because I think it is very important.

Congratulations, and praise be to the Lord for all the wonderful things that are happening in Emaús, through Emaús, and through all of you.

God bless you, Father.”

Messages like this remind me that Emaús is much more than a retreat. It is a place where people encounter Christ, find healing, discover friendship, and experience the joy of belonging to a family of faith.

“En Su Corazón”

Anoche, el Movimiento Emaús de Oklahoma City fue consagrado al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

En su homilía, el Arzobispo Coakley habló sobre vivir en el Corazón de Jesús.

La palabra consagrar proviene de la idea de apartar algo para un propósito sagrado. Una mesa se convierte en altar. Una copa se convierte en cáliz. Las cosas ordinarias son confiadas a Dios y transformadas para Su servicio.

Anoche, de manera similar, los hombres y mujeres de Emaús fueron confiados al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

Mientras recorríamos en procesión los terrenos del Santuario Rother —con el Arzobispo Coakley llevando a Jesús en la Custodia, cientos de personas sosteniendo imágenes del Sagrado Corazón y la alegría de los fieles rodeándonos— me impresionó la belleza y el significado de ese momento.

No estamos solos.

Jesús está con nosotros.

Y ahora, más que nunca, nuestro deseo es vivir en Su Corazón y permitir que Su Corazón viva en nosotros.

Que nuestro primer paso, de ahora en adelante, sea siempre volvernos hacia Jesús, buscar Su voluntad y permitirle encender nuestros corazones con Su amor.

In His Heart

Last night, the Emaús Movement of Oklahoma City was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In his homily, Archbishop Coakley spoke about living in the Heart of Jesus.

The word consecrate comes from the idea of setting something apart for a sacred purpose. A table becomes an altar. A cup becomes a chalice. Ordinary things are entrusted to God and transformed for His service.

Last night, in a similar way, the men and women of Emaús were entrusted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

As we processed around the grounds of the Rother Shrine—with Archbishop Coakley carrying Jesus in the Monstrance, hundreds holding images of the Sacred Heart, and the joy of the faithful surrounding us—I was struck by the beauty and meaning of the moment.

We are not alone.

Jesus is with us.

And now, more than ever, our desire is to live in His Heart and to allow His Heart to live in us.

May our first step from this day forward always be to turn to Jesus, to seek His will, and to allow Him to set our hearts ablaze with His love.
