FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: KATHERINE “KATE” SMITH

Family of Faith Christian University is pleased to spotlight Katherine “Kate” Smith!

Kate completed both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Sociology at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Her primary area of research is gerontology, the study of aging, and she currently serves as a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Fort Lewis College.

In addition to her academic work, Kate has extensive experience serving her community. She worked in the domestic violence and sexual assault field in Colorado Springs as the Safehouse Manager for TESSA and later as an educator for the nonprofit, speaking throughout the community about domestic violence and sexual assault.

Kate was introduced to FFCU through her pastor and fellow Durango faculty member, Chris Bernard. Her academic expertise, professional experience, and heart for others make her a wonderful addition to the FFCU community.
