Seattle Jewish Chapel Update: Taharas, Funerals & Rebuilding Campaign

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued support. Baruch Hashem, we have secured a temporary facility where the Seattle Jewish Chapel is able to perform taharas (the ritual preparation for burial). Please contact the Seattle Jewish Chapel for arrangement of taharas and funerals.

Because the facility we are currently using is a distance from Seward Park, we are actively working with a company on establishing a temporary on-campus structure as soon as possible, so taharas can once again take place on campus. As we navigate this transition, we encourage community members to volunteer for tahara work — your help is especially needed now.

Meanwhile, plans for building a permanent Tahara facility are underway. While we are working through the insurance process, insurance is not expected to cover all of the costs, and there are significant upfront expenses that must be paid before any insurance funds are received. The costs of both the temporary on-campus solution and the construction of a permanent structure are significant, and we are turning to the community and beyond, asking for your support in sustaining this essential mitzvah.
