Yesterday's office of Compline, chanted by the women of the Compline Choir, was offered with special intentions for those affected by the shooting at Seattle Center on Sunday evening.

We pray for healing for the wounded; comfort for the grieving; and for the repose of the souls of the dead. And we pray for peace in our city, and for an end to gun violence in our country.

The Women of the Compline Choir return this Sunday to offer the Office of Compline featuring Hildegard of Bingen's O Frondens Virga, arranged by Christopher Foss, the beloved hymn For the beauty of the earth, arranged by Cantus tenor, Paul John Rudoi, and the anthem The Glorious City, by Canadian composer, Stephanie Martin. The women will also sing next Sunday, August 2.

Mark your calendars: to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the men's Compline Choir, and the 7th anniversary of the women's Compline Choir, the Compline Choir will lead the music in our morning services: the Compline Choir women at the 9 a.m. service and the Compline Choir men at the 11 a.m. service.

At 9:30 p.m on that day, the culminating event of the anniversary weekend is a special women’s and men’s combined Compline service, featuring music by Elaine Hagenberg, Kevin Siegfried, Jessica French, and Peter Hallock, including Hallock’s monumental anthem Phoenix, with Naomi Kato, harp, and Page Smith, cello. Jason Anderson and Rebekah Gilmore will direct. Compline is followed with Organ by Night, featuring Michael Kleinschmidt on the Flentrop organ.
