Celebrating 50 years of
full and equal claim for LGBTQ+ people

As Pride month begins, save the date for a gathering commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 General Convention resolution declaring that LGBTQ+ people have a full and equal claim to the pastoral care and support of The Episcopal Church. The event, “Full and Equal: 50 Years in Pursuit of a Promise,” will celebrate progress and acknowledge the work that remains.

The three-day gathering will include storytelling coaching, workshops, a banquet, and a Eucharist featuring Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe as presider and Bishop Gene Robinson as preacher. Spanish-language interpretation will be available.

More registration details will follow. Please save the date and help spread the word

We were honored to walk with All My Relations for their "Immigrant" Justice Prayer Walk. "We walked in prayer under the symbol of the medicine wheel, uniting our relations from the North, South, East, and West—Red, Black, White, and Yellow. This ceremony showed that the attacks on undocumented and Indigenous lives affect all of us, no matter our background. Walking is our offering. Every step we walk is for those inside detention centers. For families ripped apart, for children without their parents, for communities living in fear." -All My Relations

Happy Pride Month!

At Ascension, we are grateful for a church community that truly means it when they say ALL are welcome. We see every person as a beloved child of God, worthy of dignity, joy, and love. Our church reminds us, week after week, that grace is freely given and has no exceptions.

In a world where so many LGBTQ+ individuals have been told they don't belong in a house of worship, we know what a gift it is to have found a spiritual home where your full self is not just tolerated, but celebrated.

Birth Kits for South Sudan
The situation in South Sudan and neighboring countries is causing suffering for millions and forcing families to flee their homes. Most South Sudanese refugees are women and children. Among the many needs of this group is the need for birth kits. The Diocese of Olympia has committed to purchasing and delivering 100 birth kits to the refugee camp near the capital city of Juba. One birth costs $100. The Rev. Canon Carla Robinson will be visiting Ascension on Sunday, May 24 and will share her experience of traveling to Sudan to initiate a new diocesan mission. You are invited to join us, and support this work!
