This Sunday at Shepherd...We’ve all heard how we can make a difference from different charities and organizations. We know a dollar can go a long way. How often do we “outsource” sharing our resources by donating money? This week we wrestle with our daily opportunities to give of our time, gifts, and energy in a way that brings us closer to each other as members of God’s family. In those ways we can truly make a difference that we will see with our own eyes!

Hospitality
My parents have friends who were mid-flight on 9/11 when evil struck and their plane was forced to land in another country. Locals invited the frightened passengers to stay with them until planes were again allowed to land in America. What an amazing act of hospitality! Paul reminds us in Romans 12, When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Being ready to help can take a mental attitude adjustment. Practicing hospitality may take some practice. Surely, responding with a heart of service takes sacrifice. With sacrifice, there’s also a beautiful blessing for all involved. When we love God’s way, our spirits get a tiny peek into the joy our Savior experienced when He sacrificed for us. Thank you, people of Shepherd, for being living examples of God’s love and teaching the next generation to walk in His ways, too.

As we remember the tragedy of September 11th, we also remember the words of Jesus, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
