We also have many individuals who volunteer in non-firefighting functions, such as fund ra

On May 13,2026 shortly before 8:00pm, Scottsbluff Rural Fire was dispatched to a structure fire on Country Road C North of Scottsbluff. All occupants were confirmed out of the home. The structure was fully involved upon arrival. Mutual aide was requested from Gering Fire, Minatare Melbeta Fire, Bayard Fire and Banner County Fire for pumpers, tankers and type 6. Dry and windy conditions caused the structure fire to spread rapidly, also causing a grass fire. Embers from this fire also started a grass/tree fire on a nearby property.
The structure, contents and vehicles were a total loss. The State fire marshals office deemed the cause undetermined. All units cleared around 2:00am.
We thank our Scotts Bluff County communications, Gering Fire, Minatare Melbeta Fire, Bayard Fire, Banner County Fire, Scotts Bluff County Sheriffs, Nebraska State Patrol, Regional West EMS and Region 22 Emergency Management.

On May 11, 2026 at approximately 3:38pm Scottsbluff Rural Fire was dispatched to smoke in the area of Highway 26 and County Road 25. The ditch company was still burning in the area and was on scene. While enroute back, a large fire was spotted in the area of Karubous road. The fire was called into dispatch by radio and immediately paged out. This fire was involving grass, trees, vehicles and headed toward buildings. Fire units were on scene within minutes and fire progress was stopped keeping any further damage from occurring. Gering Fire Department was mutual aided and assisted in these efforts. 5 Scottsbluff Rural units and 3 Gering units responded. The cause of the fire was out of control burn.
While on scene, we were alerted to a possible out of control fire again at Highway 26 and CR 25. Two units responded. Areas of concern were addressed at this incident.

We would like to remind everyone who wishes to burn to fully extinguish all burns before leaving.
We would also like to remind everyone to give emergency vehicles and emergency personnel the room they need to work.
