Yvonne Hill, Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Yvonne “Tiny” Marie Hill, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, May 17th at the Residency Care Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska at the age of 77. She fought a 22 month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. Her family would like to extend sincere appreciation to her amazing care teams at Regional West and University of Nebraska Med Center in Omaha as well as the Residency Care Center.

Yvonne went to small country schools in Todd County, South Dakota through 8th grade; then to Kilgore, Nebraska High School; and graduated from St. Martins Academy in Rapid City.

She married Donald Hill in 1966. Two sons, Donald Lee Hill and Dennis LeRoy Hill were born to this marriage. Yvonne was a dedicated mother who treasured her boys and loved every moment with them. She loved her role as grandma to her 4 special grandchildren Hunter, Shawna, Blake and Brett Hill; creating memories like “Grandma Camp”, garage sales, playing games, cooking, scavenger and treasure hunts.

Yvonne loved gardening, especially flowers; as well as cooking, reading and watching game shows. She was a cat lover and an amazing cook! Yvonne was a Master Gardner, a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Iris Society and the “Girl Saturday Night Club” with some of her closest friends. She volunteered at the Knights of Columbus on Bingo Night. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Community Greenhouse in Gering. She and her coworkers from the greenhouse received the Nebraska Statewide Landscape Award in Lincoln in November 2023 for the beautification of the greenhouse.

She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. One of her most memorable trips was in the summer of 2025 to Yosemite and San Francisco with all of her kids, grandkids, and their significant others. Yvonne lived in many different places including Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Michigan.

Yvonne worked at Western Electric and Engelwood Colorado Industrial Bank in Denver when she was first married. In 1973 they bought a ranch in Kilgore so she worked on the ranch and stayed home with the boys. She was also a cashier at Farmers State Bank in Kilgore. In 1983, she and Don moved to Thedford, Nebraska where they owned and managed Hill’s Locker until it burned down in 1986. After moving to Scottsbluff in 1987, she worked in various jobs including Ideal Linen, Office of Mental Retardation and Home Instead. Yvonne spent her last 29 working years at the Western Nebraska Veterans home as an accountant; retiring in August of 2019.
