Oh, Carolina!!!

Last week Greg visited with Friends across North Carolina. His trip started with time at New Garden Friends Meeting and their Pastoral Minister, Brenda Esch. Greg also spent time on the campus of Guilford College connecting with President Jean Bordewich and Liz Nicholson . Liz, the Director of the Quaker Leadership Scholars Program (QLSP), is an alum of the first QVS cohort!

Next Greg visited Asheville and Black Mountain where he met Sheela Repoley, mother of QVS Founder Christina Repoley, and QVS alumni Allison Letts and Trevor Johnson. He also connected with other Friends from Swannanoa Valley Friends Meeting.

In Charlotte, Greg enjoyed a lovely dinner with Marian Beane. Ruth Moeller, Philip Carey, and Jim Binford, from Charlotte Friends Meeting, also joined for dinner and conversation about future opportunities for QVS.

Finally, Greg wrapped up his NC trip with a visit to Durham Friends Meeting. He worshipped with Friends and met with a youth group. Greg also spent time with Traci Hjelt Sullivan, Executive Director of Right Sharing of World Resources, and her husband, Walter Sullivan. He ended his trip with a dip in the Quarry at the Eno River Statepark.

Thank you North Carolina Friends for your hospitality and support of Quaker Voluntary Service!
