Quaker Voluntary Service Quaker Voluntary Service is a fellowship program for young adults. We are an 11-month fellowship program for young adults 21-30.

🌻As we wrap up this program year at Quaker Voluntary Service, we have much to celebrate. Our program is full, our fellows are ready, and we need our community to support what comes next!

🌻A group of dedicated donors has come together to seed a $40,000 matching pool. Every new or increased dollar you give right now will be doubled until the match is met. Your matching gift will help us achieve our final goal of $400,000 for this fiscal year. We’re 74% of the way, having raised $295,000 so far, and we have until July 31st to cross the finish line.

🌻Your gift, at any amount, helps unlock the match and help ensure the good work happening on the ground is fully supported!

🌻This is the moment. Let’s grow QVS together! Donate on our website: https://quakervoluntaryservice.org/donate/

Friends! We would like to introduce you to Sophie Wood Brinker our new Development and Outreach Manager. Sophie (she/her) grew up in Santa Cruz Monthly Meeting, where she was immersed in community rooted in faith-based action. Whether during her time as a student at the Woolman Semester, studying Peace and Global Studies at Earlham College, or serving on various committees, Quaker community has deeply shaped who she is today. She is excited to bring that foundation to QVS as the Development and Outreach Manager.
We are thrilled to have her on the team!

Oh, Carolina!!!

Last week Greg visited with Friends across North Carolina. His trip started with time at New Garden Friends Meeting and their Pastoral Minister, Brenda Esch. Greg also spent time on the campus of Guilford College connecting with President Jean Bordewich and Liz Nicholson . Liz, the Director of the Quaker Leadership Scholars Program (QLSP), is an alum of the first QVS cohort!

Next Greg visited Asheville and Black Mountain where he met Sheela Repoley, mother of QVS Founder Christina Repoley, and QVS alumni Allison Letts and Trevor Johnson. He also connected with other Friends from Swannanoa Valley Friends Meeting.

In Charlotte, Greg enjoyed a lovely dinner with Marian Beane. Ruth Moeller, Philip Carey, and Jim Binford, from Charlotte Friends Meeting, also joined for dinner and conversation about future opportunities for QVS.

Finally, Greg wrapped up his NC trip with a visit to Durham Friends Meeting. He worshipped with Friends and met with a youth group. Greg also spent time with Traci Hjelt Sullivan, Executive Director of Right Sharing of World Resources, and her husband, Walter Sullivan. He ended his trip with a dip in the Quarry at the Eno River Statepark.

Thank you North Carolina Friends for your hospitality and support of Quaker Voluntary Service!

Back in April, QVS Board members and staff met in Portland, Oregon for a few days. We held some space for fun, connection, and spirit. We also worked together to make decisions about our future together as an organization. Here are some highlights from our time in Portland.
