Many Nations, One God

Open the Bible and you will find the whole world inside it. Egyptians enslaved the Hebrews. Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom of Israel, and Babylonians carried Judah into exile. Philistines battled Israel for generations. The Moabites, Ammonites, and Edomites, whose lands lie in what is now Jordan, were frequent enemies. Persians ruled over God’s people. Greeks brought their gods and philosophies. Romans occupied Judea and crucified Jesus. Jews and Samaritans refused even to share a drink of water. Different nations, so many religions, and cultures that clash create difficult situations. That was back then but sounds a lot like today. Our headlines read much like the pages in the Bible.

Yet woven through those same pages is another story. Ruth, a Moabite, became the great-grandmother of King David. Jonah preached to the Assyrians of Nineveh, and God showed them mercy. An Ethiopian official was baptized on a desert road. A Roman centurion named Cornelius received the Holy Spirit. And in the early church, Jews and Greeks worshipped side by side. Only God has the power to break down walls that centuries of hatred built. He offers reconciliation; but does not force it. Peace is God’s gift. Pursuing it is our decision. It must be chosen, practiced, and worked for, one conversation, one act of kindness, one forgiven offense at a time.

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Romans 12:18 KJV

Facing Your Goliath

Every morning and evening for forty days, 9 feet tall Goliath stepped onto the battlefield and dared Israel to fight him. The Bible says that when Saul and all of Israel heard him, they were dismayed and greatly afraid. We all have a Goliath or something we fear. It may be that giant obstacle that we believe stands in between us and success. It may be a dream that everyone says is too big for you. Like Israel’s army, we can stand on the hillside for days, even years, just staring at the giant, letting it shout at us and shrink our faith. But then, there is David, a young, small man small in stature but with giant-sized faith in God. David met Goliath in the name of the Lord. You already know the rest of the story. Your Goliath may be loud, but it is not bigger than our God. The size of the problem was never the point. The question is who is standing with you. So today, pick up your stone. Today, Goliath falls. Amen.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 KJV

What True Friends Do

Jonathan was the son of King Saul and heir to the throne of Israel. By every worldly measure, David was his rival. Yet when Jonathan met the young shepherd who had defeated Goliath, they became friends. Jonathan took off his royal robe, his sword, his bow, and his belt, and gave them to David. In that moment, he was laying down his own claim to the crown, because he recognized that God’s hand was on his friend. When Saul’s jealousy turned deadly and he was ready to kill David, Jonathan risked everything. He defended David before his father, and Saul hurled a spear at his own son for it. Jonathan then slipped into a field and used arrows as a secret signal to warn David to flee.

Later, as David hid in the wilderness, Jonathan didn’t come with complaints or conditions. He came with encouragement. That’s what true friends do. They celebrate your calling even when it costs them. They protect you when you’re vulnerable. They speak truth on your behalf when you’re not in the room. And they point you back to God when you’re ready to give up. I pray that each of you finds a Jonathan in your life. Be blessed my brothers and sisters.

Remember Who You Are

The world will define you if you allow it. We will be defined by our skin color, by where we live or our bank accounts, by our mistakes and the mistakes of our parents, by the child who was born out of wedlock, our height, our weight, and on and on.But God has already spoken, and throughout his scriptures, He tells us again and again who we are to Him. In John 3, we are His children. In 1 Peter, we are part of a chosen generation. In Psalm, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. In Ephesians, we are his masterpiece and his workmanship, in Romans, we are more than conquerors. Sometimes we forget who we are for a variety of reasons. Do not allow yourself to be define by anyone other than the one who made you; the one who has never been defeated; and the only one who can give you everlasting life. Smile all day as you reflect on who God says you are to Him. It does not matter what anyone else has to say. Amen.

But now, this is what the Lord says he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1

Be Transformed to Change the World

In the 12th chapter of the Book of Romans, Paul writes to Christians in Rome from Corinth. In his letter he asks them to avoid copying the customs and behaviors of the world and for them to be transformed by God into a new person who thinks, lives, and acts different from the world. Being transformed by God meant to use all gifts to help others and to love with the love of God. It meant being the best person you can be, to be generous, to lead responsibly, but mostly it meant to love others genuinely, to bless those who persecuted them, and to follow the law if it was just. None of these things sound difficult, but if you live your life consumed with personal gain, and worried about titles and positions, and judging others based on what they have instead of how they live, you likely would not like Paul's letter. Here is a simple question for you my brothers and sisters. If someone was asked about you, would they say that you care about others and treat them with respect? The world focus on personal gain, Paul letter focuses on our collective gain that includes all of us doing our best to honor God through our actions, lifting others as we climb, and never leaving out those who are in need. Therefore, if needed, submit to be transformed today. Don't wait another minute. Together, we have the ability to change the world. Amen.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Facing the Problem Before You

October 17, 2026

After more than 400 years, the people of Israel were delivered out of Egypt only to find themselves seemingly trapped again. Behind them, Pharaoh’s army raced across the desert with chariots and horsemen. In front of them was the formidable Red Sea, wide, deep, and impossible to cross. The Israelites panicked. They looked back at the army and lamented that it would have been better to stay slaves in Egypt. At least they would be safe there. But, Pharaoh was no longer the real problem. God had already delivered them from Egypt. The problem behind them was already settled. The real problem or challenge was the one before them. But God’s instructions were simply to go forward. They couldn’t go around the sea or go over it. The only way was through it. And when Moses stretched out his hand, God parted the waters and revealed the path of escape designated exclusively for them. Friends, sometimes the only way to handle the problem before you is to go through it, trusting that God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Every moment Israel spent staring back at Pharaoh was a moment they weren’t moving forward. The same is true for us. Each minute we spend replaying past mistakes, old hurts, and battles God has already won is time stolen from the step of faith in front of us. Everyone will face problems. That’s a promise of life. But if God has already brought you out of your Egypt, stop looking back at Pharaoh. Face your Red Sea and go forward. Victory is yours.

You Are the Salt of the Earth

When Jesus called His followers the salt of the earth, He was conveying that salt was precious. It was even used as currency to barter. Jesus was telling them that they mattered, and were needed by the world. You see, salt preserves. Before refrigeration, salt kept food from spoiling. As Christians, we are called to help hold back the decay around us by standing for truth, integrity, and righteousness in our homes, workplaces, and communities. You probably know that a little salt brings out the best in a meal. Our presence should do the same by bringing joy, kindness, and hope into every room we enter. Salt can also make you thirsty. It also heals. God uses His people to bring healing to broken places and broken hearts.vSo today, ask yourselves if you are preserving, seasoning, healing, and creating thirst for Christ? Be the salt that is needed on earth.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? Matthew 5:13 KJV

Purpose Fulfilled – My Poem of Gratitude

God created me with a purpose of which I have yet to know,
The steps I take in faith become seeds He helps to grow.
Before I drew my earliest breath, He already knew my heart,
He shaped my days, set my course and planned each passing part.
When seasons come that test my soul and doubts begin to rise,
I’ll lean upon the One who sees what’s hidden from my eyes.
For The Potter knows the vessel’s use before the clay is turned,
And every fire that I endure is wisdom being learned.
So I will walk, though I cannot see the ending from the road,
I’ll trust in Him to join with me to carry my heavy load.
And on the day when the veil is lifted and my work on earth is through,
I’ll hear him say “Well done, my child, You’ve done what you were called to do.”

The Greatest Gift

The Bible is full of remarkable gifts. The Queen of Sheba traveled to meet Solomon and gave him 120 talents of gold, precious stones, and more spices than Israel had ever seen. King David, as he was preparing for the temple his son would build, gave gold and silver beyond measure, because he loved the house of his God. The wise men traveled from the East and knelt before a young Jesus, opening their treasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Mary of Bethany poured a pound of very expensive spices about on the feet of Jesus. But Jesus pointed to one gift above them all. A poor widow dropped two small coins into the temple treasury. It was almost nothing by the world’s measure. But Jesus said she gave more than everyone else, because she gave all she had. You see brothers and sisters, He gave us Himself, the greatest gift to the world. It does not matter what price you place upon something. The most precious gift we can give to God is ourselves because it is everything we have. It includes our heart, our time, our presence, our love, our praise, and our attention. If this is true among people, then how much more true is it with God? He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, he does not need things. He needs us and all of us. This is our greatest gift. Will you withhold all that makes you you from Him? I hope you will freely make the right choice. Amen.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 KJV

The One You Least Expected

You know the story of the Good Samaritan. There was a traveler who was ambused, beaten and robbed and left for dead. He heard footsteps. A priest was coming! But the priest looked, crossed to the other side of the road, and kept walking. Then, a Levite, a servant of the temple came by. But he too came, looked, and passed by on the other side.Then a third traveler appeared, and he was the last person anyone would have expected. He was a Samaritan. Jews and Samaritans had no dealings with one another. They were divided by history, religion, and generations of contempt. But he was the one who stopped. He knelt in the dirt beside a stranger who might have despised him. He poured oil and w**e into the wounds, bandaged them, lifted the man onto his own horse or mule, and walked beside him to an inn. He stayed there care for him. He paid the innkeeper the next morning. The truth is that the one who shows up for us often isn’t the one we expected. Sometimes the people with the titles, the positions, and the right answers walk right past us. And the one who truly cares is someone we overlooked, misjudged, or never thought to notice. May we never become so sophisticated that we judge others because of their circumstances. May we always be the kind of neighbors who those in our communities can count on.

And have we truly learned to “love thy neighbour as thyself” (Luke 10:27)?
