When did you last call your parents back? This week, we tackled one of the most countercultural commands in Scripture — honor your father and mother (Exodus 20, Ephesians 6:1-3). Not a suggestion. A command. And the only commandment with a promise attached.
Honor is not about agreeing with your parents or waiting until they earn it. It is about the chair, not the person. The position, not the performance. God honored you long before you were worthy — and He is calling you to do the same.
Joyce Meyer housed and cared for a father who abused her for years — before he ever apologized. That is the standard. Forgiveness brings healing. Honor brings blessing.
