When did you last call your parents back? This week, we tackled one of the most countercultural commands in Scripture — honor your father and mother (Exodus 20, Ephesians 6:1-3). Not a suggestion. A command. And the only commandment with a promise attached.

Honor is not about agreeing with your parents or waiting until they earn it. It is about the chair, not the person. The position, not the performance. God honored you long before you were worthy — and He is calling you to do the same.

What if the blessing you have been striving for your whole life was already yours? In part four of our Daddy Issues series, we dove into the story of Jacob — a liar, a schemer, a heel-grabber — who spent his entire life hustling for something God had already spoken over him before he was born.

The truth is, the moment you placed your faith in Christ, God did something remarkable. Just like Jacob crossed his hands to bless the undeserving son, the Father placed his right hand of blessing on you and his wrath on Jesus. Ephesians 1 says he “has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing” — past tense. You already have it.

You do not have to earn it. You do not have to scheme for it. The blessing of the Father is never earned — it is only given.

You have been chasing a blessing you already have.

Jacob spent his entire life lying, scheming, and grabbing for something God had already spoken over him before he was born. Sound familiar?

Many of us are doing the same thing — grinding for approval, performing for love, bleeding on the people around us — all because we never believed the Father’s blessing was already ours.

Ephesians 1 says God “has blessed us” — past tense. The day you accepted Christ, God did what Jacob did for Ephraim. He put his right hand on the undeserving one.

That is you. That is the gospel.

Healing hurts. But it is worth it.

This week in our Daddy Issues series, we explored how the wounds from our earthly fathers shape the way we see God — and how God desperately wants to heal those broken places. Whether you carry a bruised heart, a performance heart, a hardened heart, or an addicted heart, God did not send Jesus just to make you aware of your pain. He came to set you free from it.

The cross was the surgery. Forgiveness is the physical therapy. As Isaiah 53:5 reminds us, Jesus was wounded and bruised so that we could be healed — inside and out. But healing requires your participation. Acknowledge the pain. Care for yourself. Choose compassion. Surrender to God.

You do not have to keep living with the beeping. God wants to give you a new heart. Join us and experience the freedom he has for you.

The patterns we carry often did not start with us. The lies, the avoidance, the fear — they were modeled long before we arrived. But unaddressed sin does not stay the same. It grows. And what you regard, you repeat.

Abraham told a half-truth. Isaac told a full lie. Jacob made deception his identity. Ten brothers built a conspiracy. Sin compounds across generations — not through blood, but through example. Yet Joseph broke the cycle. Four generations in, he was the first to simply tell the truth.

Christ redeemed us from the curse (Galatians 3:13). The pattern can be broken. You may not have started it, but you can be the one who ends it. In Christ, the apple does not fall far from the cross — you have a new Father, a new origin story, and a new tree to fall from.

You were created to be known, loved, and affirmed. That desire is not a flaw — it is by design. But when we do not receive it from God, we spend our lives saying “watch me” to everyone around us, digging our own cisterns that can never hold water (Jeremiah 2).

Jesus told the woman at the well, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst” (John 4). He was not just talking about water. He was talking about every career, relationship, and achievement you have chased trying to fill a void only He can fill.

Of all the names God could have chosen to reveal Himself, He chose Father. That is the name Jesus used 165 times in prayer. And through Christ, that name belongs to you too (2 Corinthians 6:18).

You have been drinking from the wrong well. Come to the right one.

The battle isn’t with weapons in your hands—it’s between your ears.

This week we concluded our Battle Ready series, and Jesus showed us exactly how to fight: “It is written.” Three simple words that defeated every lie the enemy threw at Him in the wilderness. He didn’t need a sword. He needed THE Sword—God’s Word.

The enemy is predictable. He uses the same three lies: lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. He wants you to doubt what you believe and believe what you doubt. But here’s the truth: Jesus already won on the cross. Now He’s calling you to walk in that victory by abiding in His Word.

If you were the devil, how would you take you out? That’s the question that changes everything. Know your weak spots. Memorize the truth. Stand firm with “It is written.”

The battle is real, but so is your victory.

Faith isn’t blind—it’s belief and trust in a God who has proven Himself faithful.

Just like a child who asks for cheese and dances away before receiving it, (check out the whole sermon on our YouTube), we’re called to pray and turn our backs in confidence, knowing our Father will provide.

The enemy is throwing fiery arrows at your marriage, your kids, your finances. But God wants you to raise the shield of faith. Not faith in your circumstances, but faith in the One who has you in the storms of life. The same God who gave Abraham a son at 100 years old, who fed 5,000 with a boy’s lunch, who defeated death itself—He’s YOUR God too.

Start memorizing His promises. “By His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).

Faith comes by hearing, but so does doubt. What are you listening to?

Believe again. Dance again. Your Father hears you.

What protects your heart in spiritual battle?

This Sunday, we dove deep into Ephesians 6:14 and the Breastplate of Righteousness. Here’s the truth: our own righteousness is like filthy rags. Our accomplishments, careers, even our service—none of it protects us from Satan’s attacks on our hearts.

But there’s hope. When we put our faith in Jesus, He gives us HIS righteousness. It’s not a one-time thing—it’s a lifestyle. We must wake up from our slumber, take up God’s Word, pray constantly, and stand firm in ALL of His will (not just the parts we like).

Your spiritual heart is the wellspring of everything—your love for God and others flows from it. Guard it above all else. Put on Jesus daily. Get in the Word. Pray without ceasing. Stand ready.

The battle is real. See you this Sunday as we continue our journey in Ephesians!
