What a blessing and privilege it was for we as a Presbytery to install yesterday our beloved colleague and friend The Rev Jason Barraca as the designated pastor of Lincoln Avenue Presbyterian Church of Salinas. For a decade, Jason served as the longtime Temporary Stated Supply pastor of Lincoln Avenue Presbyterian Church. Before that, he was formed and shaped in faith by this community, having been a member of their youth group once upon a time, and after serving in the military, he returned to serve and was moved by the Holy Spirit to attend Fuller Seminary and then got called to serve there.

LAPC was organized in 1898, a historic Japanese American congregation, many members who had been interned in a number of American concentration camps during WWII. One of their members, 92yo Loren Kitamura was interned as a child, and whose family dedicated one of several stained glass windows in the sanctuary.

The installation worship service was followed by a sumptuous lunch of sushi.

Thanks be to God for the wonderful ministry of Jason and Lincoln Avenue Presbyterian Church and for their next season together!
